Limit irrigation of outdoor plants and gardens to the period between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. daily, and stop all water runoff; and 2. Cease filling or refilling swimming pools, except that a small amount of water may be used to replace evaporation losses in a filled pool; and 3. Wash motor vehicles and equipment only from a bucket using a hose with a shutoff nozzle; and 4. Make immediate repairs to any and all leaking water lines and faucets in household plumbing and yard piping; and 5. Cease irrigating native vegetation and unplanted areas for dust control. In addition, restaurants shall only provide drinking water upon request. Stage 2 will also affect third tier water rates. Please remember that filling your outside large portable irrigation water tanks with IWD water would put more demand on our system. At this time IWD is seeking additional water haulers for non-potable irrigation water to assist our customers. If interested, pick up the list at the office or call.

Barry Shapiro “What advantages do I see when I advertise my pharmacy business in the Town Crier, since everyone knows that if they need a prescription filled they will come to the only pharmacy in Idyllwild? There are many. I can inform the community of the many services that I provide, such as my medication take-back program, free blood pressure checks, flu shot vaccinations and more. Also we carry a wide variety of products, from your typical over-the-counter pharmacy items to our one-dollar plus merchandise. In order to let our community know what is new and on sale, advertising in the Town Crier is essential for me. The last reason to advertise in the Town Crier is to support our only Idyllwild newspaper. This well-received attitude was again revealed at the gate. Jazz Chair Marsha Lytle said two weeks ago that the advance sell of tickets was the best in several years and the sale of tickets at the gate re-enforced the festival’s popularity this year. “It was very good,” Lytle said with anticipation. “The final analysis will be after the bills are paid. But I think it is good compared to last year.” Popular vendors such as Big Dev’s and Sacher’s Foods returned again, but the Associates of Idyllwild Arts added a major new offering — ice cream. Coldstone Creamery was located near the entrance to the French Quarter, and they were very happy with the patronage. The warm temperatures not only encouraged ice cream consumption, but the mimosa and margaritas were again very popular ways to cool off. Diane Kurr made sure she had plenty of mix and was able to provide dozens of consumers on both days. Not only were the vendors satisfied with their success this year, but the performers were overwhelmed with the receptions they received. “It so wonderful, I want to stay for three weeks,” John Daversa told the Holmes Amphitheatre crowd. Many, including local Casey Abrams, said they were already anticipating the 21st festival in 2014. J.P. Crumrine can be reached at [email protected].
