DESCRIPTION: “Canal Park’s fun and games from A to Z”. There is something for everyone! DESCRIPTION: A non-profit, charitable organization that holds a free annual family holiday light show – complete with Santa, holiday music and fire pits for roasting marshmallows. Guests are surrounded by a magical atmosphere geared toward all ages. Please help out those in need by bringing a new, unwrapped toy or a non-perishable food item to donate to our food and toy drive.
RATES: Free of charge. Donations to help keep the lights on are accepted. Parking is $5.
DIRECTIONS: Located in Bayfront Festival Park. Take I-35 to the Lake Avenue Exit [256B]. Take Lake Avenue toward Canal Park, turn right on Railroad Street and follow the signs. Parking is also available in Downtown Duluth or the DECC.

RATES: Locally, we offer two and four hour tours depending on the activity. Day tours in the Duluth area start at $49 per person (two-hour). DESCRIPTION: Operated as a FREE service of the US Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, with offices in Duluth & Detroit, MI. Exhibits highlight local and regional maritime history including ships, shipping, cargos, shipwrecks, lighthouses and more along with the important role of the Corps of Engineers in harbor development and maintenance of harbor entries, channels, connecting waterways and the Soo Locks. Displays and interactive exhibits highlight modern and historical ships. Three nearby lighthouses on the largest & busiest harbor on Lake Superior.

DESCRIPTION: RIDE THE RIVER TRAIN! Travel part of the original railroad route into Duluth, a 6-mile journey and return trip following the beautiful St. Louis River Corridor in West Duluth. The ride is filled with history, wildlife and incredible scenery. It’s the closest view of the river without getting wet! Vintage equipment includes two 1912 passenger coaches, a bright yellow 1946 switch engine, plus an open-air “Safari Car”. This ride is a one-of-a-kind, unique railroad experience. It’s great family fun!

DESCRIPTION: Located in the Historic Union Depot, the Lake Superior Railroad museum displays a huge collection of railroad artifacts including various locomotives, passenger cars, freight stock, maintenance equipment model train displays, video presentations, and much more. Along with the trains on display inside the museum is Depot Square, a ¾ scale recreation of Duluth’s downtown in 1910, with various buildings guests can tour. Many exhibits are interactive.

DESCRIPTION: Duluth’s Miller Hill Mall has been the premiere shopping destination for residents of Northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Canada since it opened in 1973. More than just a place to shop, Miller Hill Mall features a diverse selection of restaurants, community events throughout the year, an indoor walking program [especially beneficial in the winter months] and wheelchair & electric scooter rental available for all mall guests.

DESCRIPTION: The North Shore Scenic Railroad offers train excursions on the historic 26-mile Lakefront Line between Duluth and Two Harbors. Various trips include a 90-minute daily Duluth Zephyr excursion, 2.5 hour Pizza Train, and 6 hour Two Harbors trip [with station stop]. Special excursions include Fall Colors tours, Pumpkin Train, Elegant Dining Trains, Day Out with Thomas, and Murder Mystery Trains.

Spirit Mountain Bike Park The Spirit Mountain Bike Park has been named one of the Top Midwest Bike Parks since 2014. The Bike Park Features lift served, down-hill mountain biking and we are a prime access point for the Duluth Traverse trail. We also offer many opportunities for individuals of all ages to get on the trails and explore the great outdoors with mountain biking lessons, mountain biking camps, summer Adventure camps, Strider Camps, and much more.

DESCRIPTION: Thompson Hill Welcome Center is part of a network operated by Explore Minnesota Tourism, the state’s tourism promotion office. We provide travel information for the entire state of Minnesota at no cost, including the official Minnesota state highway map and approximately 800 Minnesota travel related publications. Our panoramic view is second to none with views of the St. Louis River Valley leading into Lake Superior and the City of Duluth. The electronic information board in our lobby displays local weather and events information on local and statewide attractions. Our rest area has 24 picnic tables and 4 covered shelters with 2 picnic tables each.

DESCRIPTION: A mid-sized regional art institution located on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth since 1958. The museum was established in 1950 when Alice Tweed Tuohy, widow of George P. Tweed, donated their house and an American and European art collection of about 500 pieces to the University of Minnesota to enrich the lives of the people, comprised of the academic and civic communities of the region. Tweed is the largest visual arts organization and the only fine arts collecting museum north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and it is recognized as one of the highlights of Duluth's cultural scene. The Tweed continues to offer free admission to the museum and to most of its programs.
