Pick your business location. Are you setting up a brick-and mortar business or 4 launching online? Choose a business structure. The legal structure you choose for your business will affect your business registration requirements, how 5much you pay in taxes, and your personal liability.

Choose your business name. Pick a name reflecting your brand. Check your secretary of state's website to make sure your business name isn’t 6already being used.

Register your business. Once you’ve picked the perfect business name, it’s time to make it legal and protect your brand. If you’re 7doing business under a name different than your own, you’ll need to register with the federal government and often your state government.
