We present the ‘Contactless’ model, a comprehensive operational tool including a plurality of services delivered remotely, structured according to a complexity gradient, aimed to cover diagnostic procedures and monitor disease progression in chronic pediatric patients. Methods: A multidisciplinary and multiprofessional project team was recruited, in collaboration with patients’ associations, to map a panel of available Evidence-Based solutions and address individual needs in full respect of the concept of personalized medicine. The solutions include a number of services from videoconsultations to more structure videotraining sessions. Results: A modular framework made up of four three Macro-levels of complexity - Contactless Basic, Intermediate and Advanced - was displayed as an incremental set of services and operational planning establishing each phase, from factors influencing eligibility to the delivery of the most accurate and complex levels of care.

One of the most mysterious pages in the history of Natuzza Evolo, is the investigation conducted by the official Church of the time in the early months of 1940, after a long series of inexplicable events experienced by Natuzza when she was just a girl and was already working as a servant. The main concern of the Church at that time was the confidence shown by Natuzza when sharing her conversations with the Virgin Mary with her hosts, and that she seemed to know a lot about the afterlife and the world of the dead, which Natuzza claimed she could get in touch with. The most impressive thing was the detailed descriptions she could give to the relatives of the dead with whom she spoke. She could tell what they were wearing in the coffin after their death. On one occasion, Natuzza was able to tell what color the skirt of a woman who had died twenty years earlier was and even describe its pattern. On another occasion, she described the color and cut of the suit worn by a local notable when he was buried.In Paravati, the small town where Natuzza was born and lived her entire life, people still remember that number of faithful rushing in her home to ask about their loved ones, to find out if “they were okay”, to ask her if “there was something they could do for them”.

My thoughts turn at this moment to the other branches of the Athenaeum: to the main one in Milan, near the beautiful Basilica of St Ambrose, and to the ones in Brescia, Piacenza-Cremona and Campobasso. I would like the whole family of the "Catholic University" to feel united beneath God's gaze at this moment, at the beginning of the new stretch on its journey of commitment to science and training. With us here in spirit are Fr Gemelli and all the other men and women who forged the history of the Athenaeum with their enlightened dedication. I extend a most cordial welcome to all of you. I first greet the Rector Magnificent, Prof. Sergio Zaninelli, whose noble address I listened to attentively, appreciating his clear description of the fundamental values that 80 years ago inspired the foundation of the Catholic University and which must continue to guide the life of all who are part of it today. I greet Cardinal Angelo Sodano, who celebrated Holy Mass for you; I greet the President, and the other members of the Toniolo Institute, the pro-rectors, deans and teachers. I also greet you, dear students, and the administrative, auxiliary and support staff, both those in service and those retired, the friends of the university and everyone who, in various ways, makes up your large family. 2. Together you have come from the branches in Milan, Rome, Brescia and Piacenza to make your Jubilee pilgrimage. It is occurring at the end of the 40th anniversary of the death of Fr Agostino Gemelli and on the eve of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of your athenaeum, which opened in December 1920. Others had desired it and prepared it in advance. I am thinking in particular of Prof. Giuseppe Toniolo, whose name is significantly linked to your founding body. But it was Fr Gemelli who achieved this work, of which Italian Catholics are so proud. Its coincidence with the imminent anniversary gives your pilgrimage a particular feature: it spurs you to rediscover your roots.

Foa,` M.D., Sc.D., Emeritus Professor of Physiology Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan March 10, 2003 The history of Fascism, its rise and fall, and the consequent fate of the Ital- ian Jews have been told in films and lecture halls and analyzed by historians, political scientists and journalists, including Benito Mussolini and two of his mis- tresses, Angelica Balabanoff and Margherita ((1-10), Fig. 1, App.1.). Much has been written also about the origins and development of Physical Anthropology, Phrenology, Constitutional Medicine, Positive and Negative Eugenics and their exploitation for political purposes (see below). In this article, I will review the participation of three generations of Foas` in this period of Italian history, both as protagonists and victims. It is a story based on a collection of mementos, letters and photographs preserved in the family archives (some of them attached to this article) and enriched by bits of oral history heard from my grandfather Pio and my father Carlo. A story which describes the end of what, in retrospect, might have been considered a fool’s paradise: the total social, economic and cultural integration of the Italian Jews in the life of the Nation. It contains some hereto- fore unpublished material reproduced in the original Italian and followed by my translation into English, illustrating the effort by Mussolini and his henchmen to create a “scientific” basis for their racist policies. The idea that a person’s physical, mental and emotional characteristics are controlled by discreet and specific areas of the brain is very old.

But summer also becomes an especially difficult time for the elderly and the sick who more often remain alone and for whom the limited services available are difficult to find, most of all in the big cities. In this way, the time for rest is also a time in which the difficulties of life seem to become even worse. Let me extend my thought to all the sick of course but, in particular, to the patients at Gemelli who, on 27 June, the Feast of the Sacred Heart, were expecting me. I know that everything had also been prepared with enthusiasm and passion to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of Rome’s University Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic annexed to the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Everything was ready; in fact as you could see, my closest colleagues were already at Gemelli, but a few minutes before leaving, a bad headache, which I had had all morning and which I had hoped would pass, worsened and was accompanied by nausea, and so on.... I was not able to go. I understand the disappointment not only of those in charge but also of all those who had worked with so much effort and enthusiasm.
