Initially he has been an Intern Student and Physician, thereafter a Resident in General Surgery, then as a PhD Surgical Fellow in Hepatobiliary Oncology. During the Residency in General Surgery he has also been a Clinical Fellow at The Northwestern Hepatobiliary Unit, Aintree University Hospitals, The University of Liverpool. Liverpool (UK) (May-December 2009). From April to June 2011 he attended a short experience as Consultant Surgeon at the INRCA-IRCSS Institute. Then from July 2011 to current Dr. Gerardo Sarno is working at the Department of General Surgery and Transplantation Unit San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi dAragona University Hospital as Consultant Surgeon. Dr. Sarno is actively involved in the whole activities of the Unit (patients care, outpatient clinic, general and surgical oncology interventions,organ procurement and transplant surgery, immunosuppresive therapy). Dr. Sarno is also actively involved in all the research and scientific activities of the Department. Research activity is mainly focused on transplant and hepatobiliary surgery,pre and post-operative management of kidney transplant recipients.
