UNIVERSITY FACTS Bloomsburg went above its season average in points on Saturday afternoon but could not stop East Stroudsburg Location Bloomsburg, Pa. University and the highest-scoring offense in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) as the Huskies Founded 1839 dropped a 99-85 decision at the Nelson Field House. The game was back-and-forth for much of the first half, Enrollment 9,754 however, the Warriors were able to build an eight-point lead, 50-42, at halftime. The Huskies could never recover Nickname Huskies in the second half as East Stroudsburg led from start to finish to earn the 14-point win. Christian Mortellite led the Colors Maroon and Gold Huskies with 26 points while Carnell McGirt added 19 points and seven rebounds. Yahmir Greenlee was also in double figures with 16. Quindell Brice led four Warriors in double figures with 19 points. Affiliation NCAA Division II Conference PSAC (Eastern Division) STARTING FIVE ... Arena Nelson Field House 1 - Redshirt junior Christian Mortellite continues his rapid ascent up Bloomsburg’s all-time scoring list. The President Dr. David Soltz sharpshooter currently sits in 15th place on the school’s all-time list with 1,256 career points. He jumped ahead Director of Athletics Dr. Michael McFarland of Craig Phillips (1987-91), Adam Bohman (1999-03), and Jon Bardsley (1978-82) during the loss against East Stroudsburg and now trails Aaron Carter (1998-02) by 16 points to move into a tie for 14th place. He has scored TEAM FACTS at least 20 points in 15 of the 17 games this season and has 35 career 20-point efforts in 69 collegiate games. Basketball Coaching Staff He has hit double figures in 53 of his last 55 games and has been held to under 10 points in a game only nine Head Coach John Sanow (IUP ‘87) times in his career. Record at Bloomsburg 127-159 (11th Season) Overall Record Same 2 - Bloomsburg has found its stride offensively and has moved to sixth in the PSAC in scoring offense at 81.0 Assistant Coach Michael Hamlin (Bloomsburg ‘11) points per game. Head coach John Sanow moved juniors Carnell McGirt and Kyle-Michael Rose to the bench for the Felician game on December 18 and, since then, Bloomsburg has averaged 87.0 points over its last nine Years At Bloomsburg 2nd Season contests (McGirt has rejoined the starting lineup for the last two games). Prior to the lineup change, the Huskies Volunteer Assistant Saige Spece averaged only 74.1 points per contest. Greenlee finished with then-career-highs in points (15), assists (9), and 2015-16 Overall Record 17-10 steals (4) while tying a career-best in rebounds (4) in the victory at West Chester on December 30. He broke Postseason Results Lost in First Round of PSAC his career-high with 19 points at Shippensburg, broke it again with 21 points against Mansfield, and then broke 80-78 at Shippensburg it one final time with 25 points at Kutztown last Wednesday. All told, Greenlee has hit double figures in all eight Starters Returning/Lost 2/3 games and is averaging 16.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.3 steals. He had posted a previous high Letterwinners Returning/Lost 6/9 of 14 points in a win at Mansfield on February 6, 2016 and hit double digits in scoring only twice last season. 4 - This season, the bench has produced a total of 388 points - an average of 22.8 points per game. Production PROGRAM HISTORY certainly increased when the Huskies were bringing juniors Carnell McGirt and Kyle-Michael Rose off the bench. First Year of Basketball 1901-02 In fact, Bloomsburg’s bench outscored West Chester, 34-8; Cheyney, 41-29; Shippensburg, 34-8; Edinboro, 42- All-Time Record 1310-937 10; Mansfield, 31-0; and Millersville, 32-5, in a six-game stretch. All told, Bloomsburg’s reserves have outscored All-Time PSAC Record 513-395 the opponent in nine of the last eleven games and by a margin of 286-166. The opposition has totaled 320 bench PSAC Championships 2 points (18.8 per game) this season. (1952-53; 1978-79) PSAC East Championships 9 5 - Bloomsburg had three players post a double-double in the win at Wilmington - Christian Mortellite (28 pts, NCAA Tournament Appearances 8 11 reb), Kyle-Michael Rose (17 pts, 12 reb), and Carnell McGirt (12 pts, 11 reb). It marked the first time multiple Huskies’ players had a double-double since February 10, 2016 against Kutztown - Mortellite (25 pts, 13 reb) and PSAC Tournament Appearances 21 Malik Garner (20 pts, 10 reb).
