M. HILLIARD &B.L.BURTT Nineteen miscellaneous species of Bornean Cyrtandra are dealt with. Cyrtandra atrichoides, C. congestiflora, C. crockerella, C. dulitiana, C. kanae, C. libauensis, C. plicata, C. vaginata and C. disparoides subsp. inconspicua are newly described. Descriptions and discussion are provided for C. erythrotricha and C. poulsenii, originally published with diagnoses only. Cyrtandra axillaris, C. longicarpa and C. microcarpa are also described, while C. borneensis, C. dajakorum, C. glomeruliflora, C. latens and C. prolata are reduced to synonymy. Keywords. Borneo, Cyrtandra, Gesneriaceae, new species. I NTRODUCTION A good many species of Cyrtandra in Borneo still remain undescribed; some available specimens are known to us only in the sterile state or are otherwise inadequate to typify a name. In this paper eight species and one subspecies are newly described. Burtt (1996) published new species with diagnoses only: C. erythrotricha B.L.Burtt and C. poulsenii B.L.Burtt are now fully described while C. glomeruliflora B.L.Burtt is reduced to synonymy under C. poulsenii. Full descriptions of C. axillaris C.B.Clarke and C. microcarpa C.B.Clarke are also given for the first time with the reduction of C. latens C.B.Clarke and C. dajakorum Kraenzl.

Penelitian telah menemukan tiga varian Melayu di kawasan ini, iaitu: (1) Dialek Melayu Sarawak (DMS); (2) Dialek Melayu Brunei (DMB); dan, (3) Bahasa Melayu Baram (BMB). Dari segi ciri linguistik, DMS di Lembah Baram dikenalpasti sama seperti golongan DMS lain di Sarawak, misalnya DMS Rejang, Saribas dan Kuching. DMB pula adalah kategori Subdialek Melayu Brunei yang memperlihatkan sistem tiga vokal. Makalah ini turut mengulas kajian Needham (1958) tentang BMB. Bahasa ini bersifat bahasa Pasar dan digunakan oleh suku-suku bumiputera bukan penutur dialek Melayu di sekitar Lembah Baram. Kata kunci: Dialek Melayu, dialek Melayu Brunei, Bahasa Melayu Baram, lembah Baram ABSTRACT This paper attempt to study the Malay dialects spoke in Baram River, Northern Sarawak. Three Malay dialects have been revealed in this area, namely (1) the Sarawak Malay Dialect (SMD) (2) Brunei Malay Dialect (BMD); and (3) Baram Malay (BM). Linguistically, the SMD in Baram river basin is identified as a sub- variant of SMD in Sarawak (similar to the Rejang, Saribas and Kuching dialect). The SMD, which only consists of three vowels, is categorized as the sub dialect of Brunei Malay. This paper also described the BM studied by Needham (1958). In brief, BM is a kind of Bazaar Malay which is widely spoken by the non-Malay tribes in Baram river basin Key words: Malay dialect, Brunei Malay dialect, Baram Malay, Baram basin PENGENALAN Di Sarawak, persebaran dialek-dialek Melayu agak menarik, iaitu berdasarkan “sistem sungai”2.

    Najib: Choose BN candidates to continue agendas for growth MalaysiaKini.com May 2nd , 2016 S'WAK POLLS Voters in Sarawak must choose the right candidate as their respecive state assemblyperson from a party like BN which has the capability and capacity to support development agendas in the state, said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. He said voters must weigh the overall performance of a party's track record and strength to ensure the chosen candidate can continue development that is required in their respective constituencies. Najib, who is also the BN chairperson, stressed that the development agenda, economic progress and stability can only be brought about by a party that is strong and stable and not one that is weak and one that lacked stability. "The strength of a party does not come from an individual but from the foundation of a party. My position as the BN chairman and Tok Nan (Chief Minister Adenan Satem) are strong and stable because of the party, not individual," he said. When a party is strong, the administration is smooth and the government can carry out programmes that benefit the people effectively, he said when speaking to the people at Dataran Bandar Saratok, Betong, situated about 300km from Kuching. Najib also urged the voters to pick a candidate who can listen to the pulse of the people and able to channel their demands to the party effectively. "If BN is voted in the May 7 polls, it means the voters have chosen a government that has an agenda to carry out development agendas for the people.

Daripada jumlah itu, Daerah Kuching (1) kes dan Daerah Serian (1) kes. Ini menjadikan jumlah keseluruhan kes positif COVID-19 di Sarawak sebanyak 677 kes. A. Kes 676: Kes ini adalah seorang perempuan warganegara tempatan yang mempunyai sejarah kontak rapat positif COVID-19 kepada kes Ke-630 yang telah disahkan pada 23 Julai 2020. Kes adalah emak kepada kes Ke-630. Beliau sering melawat kes Ke-630 setiap minggu dan kali terakhir kes melawat anaknya pada 11 Julai 2020. Kes dikesan secara pengesanan aktif yang melibatkan Kluster Sentosa. Kes tidak menunjukkan tanda dan gejala. Kes telah disaring swab untuk ujian rT- PCR pada 27 Julai 2020 di Pusat Saringan di Serian dan didapati positif COVID-19 pada 28 Julai 2020. Kes telah dimasukkan ke wad pada 28 Julai 2020. 1 Kenyataan Media JPBN Bil 174/2020 B. Kes 677: Kes adalah lelaki bukan warganegara mempunyai sejarah kontak rapat positif COVID-19 kepada kes Ke-581 yang telah disahkan pada 14 Julai 2020. Kes dikesan secara pengesanan aktif yang melibatkan Kluster Mambong. Kes ini juga tidak menunjukkan sebarang tanda dan gejala. Kes ini telah disaring swab ujian rT- PCR pada 27 Julai 2020 di sebuah klinik kesihatan kerajaan dan didapati positif COVID-19 pada 28 Julai 2020. Kes telah dimasukkan ke wad pada 28 Julai 2020. C. The question is really, by how much. Taib Mahmud’s successor as chief minister, Adenan Satem, has through various measures taken over the last two years, increased his personal popularity and the popularity of his party tremendously. While there have been disagreements within both the coalitions – Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) – those within PH are most serious, and damage the credibility of its component parties even at the federal level. This may affect voter support in the general elections to be held within two years. As the situation now stands, the opposition parties have lost the initiative that they had in 2011, and are basically carrying out damage control measures. Retaining the same number of seats they won in 2011 will be their most realistic strategy. * Lee Hock Guan is ISEAS Senior Fellow and co-coordinator of the Institute’s Malaysia Studies Programme 1 ISSUE: 2016 NO. 20 ISSN 2335-6677 ETHNIC POLITICS WITHOUT UMNO Much of what lies behind Sarawak’s political conditioning is in the fact that the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), Malaysia’s federally dominant party, has never established itself in this East Malaysian state where Malay voters constitute a minority. Instead, UMNO, through the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition model in which it is the decisive voice, has strategically formed political pacts with parties representing Sarawak’s Muslim bumiputras, Christian bumiputra minorities and Chinese.
