Mweya Safari Lodge The Lodge is located on a peninsula within the heart of the Queen Elizabeth National Park and surrounded by the magical Rwenzori Mountains - the 'Mountains of the Moon'. To the east, lie the guardians of the birthplace of mankind, the Great Rift Valley hills, separated from the Mountains of the Moon by the meandering Kazinga Channel. Here the water flows endlessly into two giant lakes – Lake George and Lake Edward. Mweya Safari Lodge has also become the ultimate, intimate 'bush break' venue from small private parties to weddings, conferences and formal gatherings. With an abundance of game, and some of the best bird watching in Africa, Mweya Safari Lodge is the perfect place to start your journey of discovery. Each room at Mweya Safari Lodge has breathtaking views of the Kazinga channel, Lakes George and Edward and the Rwenzori Mountains. In one of our 32 standard single, double and twin rooms, you will find a simple safari atmosphere with a level of comfort that will not disappoint. Our 12 Deluxe rooms include everything found in our standard rooms, as well as superior furnishings and air- conditioning - the ultimate luxury in the wilderness! Our suites are perfect for guests who want a little bit more space to relax; including a living room with sofas for relaxation and entertainment. Families may be more comfortable in our affordable, family cottages – “The Rwenzori Cottage" and "The Royal Cottage", and for those demanding something more luxurious and exclusive, the "Queens Cottage" and "The Presidential Cottage" will be sure to meet your demands. There are also 4 tents at Mweya Safari Lodge – 2 doubles and 2 twins. We use the term "tents" although, of course, these are luxurious tents with en-suite bathrooms! The Lodge offers a range of activities and attractions: take a morning or evening game drive and discover a vast array of wild game; experience a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel using one of our two luxury boats – The Sunbird and The Kingfisher; watch some of the 612 different species of birds available to be seen; track chimpanzees and a variety of other primates in the dramatic Kyambura Gorge on the eastern side of the park; or track gorillas in the Bwindi Forest just a few hours’ drive or a short flight from the lodge. Other activities include a trip to the Katwe Explosion and Salt Craters, a visit to the southern extremity of the park to see the famous tree climbing lions, have a Bush Breakfast with a chance to view the incredible wildlife while eating in the wildest of settings, or a visit to Pelican Point for a little exploration. Ther is also a great opportunity to explore and enjoy the diverse cultural and traditional practices of indigenous tribes in the area, and a unique opportunity to interact with these indigenous people whose rich cultural heritage extends down the centuries. For those who want to unwind and relax, what better way than with a massage? The Mweya Health Club and spa offers treatments to revitalize you after a long day out in the game park.
