A total of 5 nudibranch species are reported from the Norwegian coast for the first time (Doridoxa ingolfiana, Goniodoris castanea, Onchidoris sparsa, Eubranchus rupium and Proctonotus mucro- niferus). In addition 10 species that can be considered rare in Norwegian waters are presented with new information (Lophodoris danielsseni, Onchidoris depressa, Palio nothus, Tritonia griegi, Tritonia lineata, Hero formosa, Janolus cristatus, Cumanotus beaumonti, Berghia norvegica and Calma glau- coides), in some cases with considerable changes to their distribution. These new results present an update to our previous extensive investigation of the nudibranch fauna of the Norwegian coast from 2005, which now totals 87 species. An increase in several new species to the Norwegian fauna and new records of rare species, some with considerable updates, in relatively few years results mainly from sampling effort and contributions by specialists on samples from poorly sampled areas. doi: 10.5324/fn.v31i0.1576. E-mail: [email protected] Abstract This paper describes 21 ctenostomatous bryozoans from the state of São Paulo, Brazil, based on specimens observed in vivo. A new family, Jebramellidae n. fam., is erected for a newly described genus and species, Jebramella angusta n. gen. et sp. Eleven other species are described as new: Alcyonidium exiguum n. sp., Alcyonidium pulvinatum n. sp., Alcyonidium torquatum n. sp., Alcyonidium vitreum n. sp., Bowerbankia ernsti n. sp., Bowerbankia evelinae n. sp., Bow- erbankia mobilis n. sp., Nolella elizae n. sp., Panolicella brasiliensis n. sp., Sundanella rosea n. sp., Victorella araceae n. sp. Taxonomic and ecological notes are also included for nine previously described species: Aeverrillia setigera (Hincks, 1887), Alcyonidium hauffi Marcus, 1939, Alcyonidium polypylum Marcus, 1941, Anguinella palmata van Beneden, 1845, Arachnoidella evelinae (Marcus, 1937), Bantariella firmata (Marcus, 1938) n. comb., Nolella sawayai Marcus, 1938, Nolella stipata Gosse, 1855 and Zoobotryon verticillatum (delle Chiaje, 1822). -

Internal phylogeny and relationships between Styelidae and Pyuridae 37 were inconclusive however. In order to clarify these points we used mitochondrial and 38 nuclear sequences from 31 species of Styelidae and 25 of Pyuridae. Phylogenetic trees 39 recovered the Pyuridae as a monophyletic clade, and their genera appeared as 40 monophyletic with the exception of Pyura. -

Seasearch Wales 2012 Summary Report report prepared by Kate Lock, South and West Wales coco----ordinatorordinator Liz MorMorris,ris, North Wales coco----ordinatorordinator Chris Wood, National coco----ordinatorordinator Seasearch Wales 2012 Seasearch is a volunteer marine habitat and species surveying scheme for recreational divers in Britain and Ireland. It is coordinated by the Marine Conservation Society. This report summarises the Seasearch activity in Wales in 2012. It includes summaries of the sites surveyed and identifies rare or unusual species and habitats encountered. These include a number of Welsh Biodiversity Action Plan habitats and species. It does not include all of the detailed data as this has been entered into the Marine Recorder database and supplied to Natural Resources Wales for use in its marine conservation activities. The data is also available on-line through the National Biodiversity Network. During 2012 we continued to focus on Biodiversity Action Plan species and habitats and on sites that had not been previously surveyed. Data from Wales in 2012 comprised 192 Observation Forms, 154 Survey Forms and 1 sea fan record. The total of 347 represents 19% of the data for the whole of Britain and Ireland. Seasearch in Wales is delivered by two Seasearch regional coordinators. Kate Lock coordinates the South and West Wales region which extends from the Severn estuary to Aberystwyth. Liz Morris coordinates the North Wales region which extends from Aberystwyth to the Dee. The two coordinators are assisted by a number of active Seasearch Tutors, Assistant Tutors and Dive Organisers. Overall guidance and support is provided by the National Seasearch Coordinator, Chris Wood. -

Torbay rMCZ, Devon Seasearch Site Surveys 2012 This report summarises the results of surveys carried out in the recommended MCZ by Seasearch divers during 2012. The aim of the surveys was to add detail of the habitats and species found within the area to support the designation process. Particular attention was paid to the Habitat and Species FOCI identified in the Ecological Guidance on the designation of MCZs. Surveys were carried out at a number of sites in all parts of the rMCZ. 1 2 4 3 5 Sites Surveyed 1 Babbacombe 2 Hope’s Cove CW 3 Orestone 6 7 4 Thatcher Gut 8 9 5 Fairy Cove 6 Elberry Cove 7 Fishcombe Cove 8 Brixham Breakwater 10 11 9 Shoalstone Beach 12 10 Cod Rock 11 Sharpham Bay 12 St Mary’s Bay Physical features Surveyed The main features of the area surveyed by Seasearch in 2012 were eelgrass beds (Hopes Cove (2), Thatcher Gut (4), Elberry Cove (6), Fishcombe Cove (7) and Brixham Breakwater Beach (8)), infralittoral rocky reefs (Babbacombe (1), Fairy Cove (5), Shoalstone (9) and St Marys Bay (12)), circalittoral rocky reefs (Orestone (3), Cod Rock (10) and Sharpham Bay (11)) and a variety of sediments from gravel to sandy mud (most sites). All of the sites are already within the Torbay SAC, but a number had not been previously surveyed and the records of eelgrass beds at Hope’s Cove and Thatcher Gut are new, is arCWe the circalittoral rocky reef in Sharpham Bay. CW Features of the Marine Life and Habitats Eeelgrass Beds (Sites 2,4,6,7,8) Eelgrass, Zostera marina, is one of the very few flowering plants underwater and, unlike seaweeds, has a system of roots which can help to bind soft sediments and create a complex habitat in what would otherwise be a relatively un-diverse environment. -
