The Hamburg Area School District administrators, teachers and students are now participating in a weekly event called “One minute to one degree of excellence”. At the beginning of each week day the Principal, Mr. Spohn, gets on the loud speaker. He makes an announcement to create and review ones idea of how to make their school life better, for example study, focus, and participate more or do their homework. He asks each student to pair up and talk about how they can accomplish their goals by the end of the week. In just one minute a student comes up with one degree of how to make Hamburg school life excellent. This routine is new to Hamburg Area High students, considering there was an assembly held about a month ago to talk about Hamburg’s rating. The students had just finished taking their Algebra, Literature and Biology CDT’S. Mr. Netznik and Mr. Spohn called the students together to introduce “One minute to one degree of excellence”. Than Wright, the supervisor of technology information says, “this is a good concept and a great idea for the students”. This will hopefully continue throughout the school year so it can teach the students to become a better learner and become successful. Mr. Spohn spoke briefly at the Hamburg MiniThon introduction assembly. He said, “in order for this to work we have to have participation. One thing that Hamburg Area School District excels J.R.
