Answer— I am advised: While staffing levels may fluctuate, Cessnock District Hospital FTE staffing levels as at 31 July 2011 were as follows: No. Full time equivalent (FTE) Hotel Services 1.0 Medical 0.0 Scientific & Technical Clinical Support Staff 2.3 Other 1.3 Corporate Services 16.6 Nursing 79.0 TOTAL 100.2 *0526 CESSNOCK DISTRICT HOSPITAL—BED NUMBERS—Mr Clayton Barr asked the Minister for Health, and Minister for Medical Research— How many beds are currently available at Cessnock District Hospital? Answer— I am advised that as at July 2011 Cessnock Hospital has a total of 68 beds, inclusive of 4 Emergency Department treatment spaces. *0527 CESSNOCK LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA—NEW HOSPITAL—Mr Clayton Barr asked the Minister for Health, and Minister for Medical Research— What steps have been taken to plan for a new hospital in the Cessnock Local Government Area to accommodate the population expansion and growth? Answer— I am advised: Hunter New England Health District recognises the need for review and planning of health services across the Lower Hunter to meet future demand from a growing and ageing population. To this end, Hunter New England Health has completed a preliminary planning exercise to explore future models of service delivery to best meet community needs. A model of service delivery for primary, acute and subacute health services across the LGAs of Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton and Dungog has been proposed. The next stage of planning will determine services and workforce required, infrastructure needs and optimal locations for health services. *0528 KURRI KURRI DISTRICT HOSPITAL—STAFFING LEVELS—Mr Clayton Barr asked the Minister for Health, and Minister for Medical Research— What are the current staffing levels at Kurri Kurri District Hospital? (3) What review has been carried out to identify measures to streamline this excavation and closing of trenches? (4) What strategies have been examined that might improve coordination? (5) What plans does the Government have to improve coordination amongst agencies and contractors to reduce duplication, limited access, residential amenity impacts and costs? Answer— I am advised: (1) to (3) Government agencies and most utility providers are represented on the Streets Opening Conference (SOC), which is a voluntary association set up to coordinate activities of utility providers and 730 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Friday 9 September 2011 road agencies. The objectives of this association, membership of which includes the RTA, the Local Government and Shires Association (LGSA) representing local councils, and major utility providers (such as Sydney Water, Telstra, Ausgrid, and several others) include: • Fostering coordination of underground utility works. • Minimising impacts of those activities. • Minimising interference to traffic and pedestrians from road openings.

Second Reading Speech Mr KEVIN ANDERSON (Tamworth—Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation) (12:16:12): I move: That this bill be now read a second time. I am proud to introduce the Gas Legislation Amendment (Medical Gas Systems) Bill 2020. The bill delivers on the New South Wales Government's promise to introduce a robust and effective licensing regulatory system for persons who carry out medical gas work. As I said on 18 June on behalf of the Government in opposing the Hon. Mark Buttigieg's private member's bill, nobody wants to see a tragedy repeated like the one we saw at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. As I undertook then, the Government has taken the steps necessary to provide a strong, robust licensing framework for those persons installing and working on medical gases in New South Wales. To the families of John Ghanem and Amelia Khan, on behalf of the Government I repeat my commitment that we are taking action to ensure no other families will have to endure as they have. The bill forms a key part of the Government's response to licensed work for medical gases that are supplied in medical facilities in New South Wales.

Our local media has publicised that Superintendent Griffiths has been moved from the Sutherland Shire Police Area Command into the St George Police Area Command. Those of us who have had the opportunity to work with the superintendent, and to know him well, are going to miss him dearly. Media reports have not captured that Superintendent Griffiths is a capable and competent commander who has always been dedicated to serving the local community. He has done that in his capacity as a superintendent of both the Sutherland Shire Local Area Command and the merged Sutherland Shire Police Area Command over the past six years. I was recently told a story about Superintendent Griffiths which highlights the depth of his care and the lengths that he has gone to for the community. It is about the recent fires in the western part of the shire, in Menai, Alfords Point and Barden Ridge.

    RIGHT TO LIFE NEWS AUGUST SEPTEMBER 2019 The NSW Abortion Debate 2019 Up to 10,000 people rallied to stop Australia has recently been reminded of its disgraceful record on government- abortion bill in New South Wales funded abortions with the NSW parliament engaged in a fiery debate over the total legislation of abortion until birth! To our utter disgrace this is now the Margaret Tighe situation in Victoria, Tasmania and Queensland with South Australia poised to follow suit after the usual “government inquiry”. Amazingly Sydney has been rocked by large anti-abortion protests in its streets and outside its parliament. Clearly the churches have played a major role in turning out the protestors. The sad reality is that abortions have been widely available in New South Wales for many years – late abortion included.
