It’s an opportunity for us to showcase our breeding program. We have spent years developing this cow herd and it’s exciting to see our genetics go to work in other programs across the country. The bucking bull business has continued to grow and the opportunities to buck bulls for a huge pay day con- tinues to grow as well. We all know those opportunities are what create value in our breeding programs and what creates our markets. Fortunately, our bulls have won at every level of competition and have received numerous awards over the years. However, the key to our success is our cow herd and elite cow families. We have a very aggressive breeding program and embryo transplant program. Therefore, we have simply produced more females than we can possibly retain in our own herd. Each year we hand select this offering and we strive to offer our very best genetics. This offering is loaded with world class genetics and backed by our most proven cow families. The calves at the side of these great cows are the next generation. We hate to see them go but we look forward to seeing them work for you. An evaluation of laterality based on observations of how the individual animals were loaded into chutes at 11 bull riding events showed 63% left-handed delivery and 37% right-handed delivery across all observations (n = 525). There was a similar distribution for aggressiveness (based on whether or not the bull charged after the rider dismounted) with 64% of bulls being non-aggressive and 36% of bulls being aggressive. Significant linear relationships existed between score and number of outs and score and buckoff percentage indicating that experience impacted performance.

When I was 9 years old, my school took my class on a field trip to a local rodeo show. I remember the day explicitly. The sun was beating down as my teacher ushered my classmates and me into the stands. As a child, my attention always seemed to be elsewhere rather than the intended point of focus, but this day had my full attention. I didn’t understand the purpose of the rodeo, but it was apparent to me the animals were scared.
