Introduction Aviation industry of Australia is a very successful industry and forms an important source of revenue for the economy of the country. Qantas Airways is one of the most successful airlines not only in Australia but also in the world. Thus the company chosen for the study is Qantas Airways which is one of the most successful airlines company present globally.

Overview of Qantas Airways Qantas Airways is one of the most successful airlines in Australia. Thus the company operates in the aviation industry. Qantas Airways came into existence in the year 1920 in Queensland. QANTAS is the abbreviation of Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited (QANTAS AIRWAYS, 2013). Qantas operates both in the domestic and the international markets. The main service provided by Qantas is to help people travel from one destination to the other within the shortest possible time by air. It provided by two of its brands that is Qantas and . The other products and services offered by Qantas Airways through its subsidiaries are

 QantasLink: It is a provincial airline that operates in Australia.  Q Catering: Operates in the catering business with two business that is Q Catering and Snap Fresh  : It handles the operations related to the air cargo of the Qantas Group.  Express Ground Handling: It provides for complete range of services related to ground handling. This service is provided to Jetstar and other provincial airlines.  Qantas Holidays: It provides for services related to travel and is a travel wholesaler.  Jetstar: Airline which operates as a low cost service provider for the mass consumers.  Qantas Defence Services: The service is provided to the Defence wing of Australia. Australian Defence Force capability systems are supported by this subsidiary wing.

The mission statement of Qantas Airways is “You are the reason we fly”. The airway is customer oriented and aims to provide for the best services to not only to the people of Australia but also other passengers who prefer to fly through the airways. (QANTAS AIRWAYS, 2013)

The key business processes of Qantas Airways comprise are marketing and sales; business development and management; aircraft operations; and passenger and freight movement management. The business strategy of Qantas Airways is two-fold. It has adopted the niche marketing as well as low cost marketing strategies. The niche marketing strategy is provided through the Qantas where the airlines targets and serves the premium customers. The low cost services are provided through the Jetstar wing of the company.
