12 th DUTCH KINKS FAN MEETING
Dear fan of Kinks music
On Sunday the 23 rd of September from 11:00 until 18:00 we organize the 12 th Dutch Kinks Fan Meeting in Muziekpodium ESTRADO in Harderwijk (about 75 km from Amsterdam and about 50 km from Utrecht). Estrado is a new and up-and-coming music centre. A great venue with excellent acoustics. In Estrado you also can find ‘Het Vinylarchief’ that still has a lot of vinyl, besides cd’s and dvd’s. Car parking nearby Estrado is for free. Do you travel by train, than it is about a 10 minutes walk from the railway station to Estrado. The music centre has a nice bar that’s also selling food and snacks. A good program and good company will do the rest.
This year the theme of the day is ‘EVERYBODY’S IN SHOW-BIZ’ (EVERYBODY’S A STAR) , a reference to the same-titled Kinks album that was released 40 years ago (1 st of September 1972). Most well known Kinks- classic of this album is Celluloid Heroes, but this record contains many more ‘Davies jewels’.

Usual names and a special guest (and we like it)
The Kast Off Kinks hardly need an introduction. They come to Harderwijk in the well known strong line-up and the Norwegian brass trio The Oslo Brass will accompany them again. The sound of the theme-album ‘Everybody’s In Show-Biz’ was strongly influenced by the brass players of The Mike Cotton Sound. With help of The Oslo Brass, The Kast Off Kinks will surely achieve the Kinks-sound of that period.
As support act and ‘home band’ of the Dutch Kinks Fan Meetings Flamin’ Stars will perform again. This band is coming from Harderwijk. So this will be a home match for them.
We are very pleased with ‘special guest’ Dave Berry . In the period 1963-1966 he had many huge hits in The Netherlands. In the summer of 1965 his mysterious interpretation of the Ray Davies composition ‘This Strange Effect’ became one of the most successful Dutch singles ever. Of course Dave Berry will sing this evergreen.

• Beside the performances, of course there will be a Kinks-market. This time there is even more. For vinyl record collectors the doors of ‘Het Vinylarchief’ will be open all day. • Are you also anxious to know who will become ‘Kinks Fan Of The Year’ this time? Come to Harderwijk and your question will be answered. • As always the profits of the meeting, and a raffle with Kinks-related prizes will hopefully contribute to that, will go to an organization that is fighting against cancer amongst children. Please let us know if you wish to add Kinks-material to the list of prizes.

By car: Harderwijk is situated along the Dutch motorway A28, between Zwolle (in the North) and Amersfoort (in the South). Use your car navigator system to the right address Parkweg 3, Harderwijk or check before you leave home a route planner on the internet. There are parking facilities for free, right in front of Estrado.
