Musicians and performers of all styles, genres and ages will be set to entertain you throughout the day. This year the event falls on International Busking Day so we hope to make it the biggest and best yet! The way it works There will be busking zones throughout the town including Monnow Street, White Swan Court, Beaufort Arms Square, Church Street, The Oldway Centre and Monnow Bridge. The Open Mic Stage this year will be located in Agincourt Square with 15 minute slots running from 10.30am to 6.00pm. These can be booked on the day from 9.00am so please turn up early to avoid disappointment. The festival committee will choose 5 acts to go on to play the Main Stage on Carnival Sunday (24th July) from 3pm. To perform on the Open Mic Stage and be in with a chance of securing a Festival Main Stage Slot buskers MUST also perform around the town. To ensure that every busker can be heard buskers are politely requested not to use any form of amplification when performing around town. Spend the morning finding out about Monmouth’s historical past with visits toMonnow Bridge Gatehouse or The Shire Hall. Participate in the puppet workshop and help create a puppet for the Carnival Parade. You might even be asked to carry the puppet in the parade. Just browse the stalls lining Monnow Street or wander the town. Monmouth Town Band will announce the hour countdown to the parade itself which promises to be full of fabulous floats, interesting vehicles, costumed walkers and dancers. The Parade, including The Spirit of Monmouth, will make its way from Priory Street through Agincourt Square down to The Festival Site at the bottom of town. Prizes will be presented followed by Buskers from Saturday’s Busking Festival.
