The Ooks were able to battle back from the brink of elimination versus the Mount Royal Cougars after being down 2-0 in the best-of-5 series. Over the weekend, NAIT won three straight games against a Cougar team that was tops in the ACAC. With the huge come- back wins, the Ooks took the series three games to two and are now moving on to the ACAC finals against the Augustana Vikings. Head coach Serge Lajoie talked about how he motivated his team to get back in into the series. “We always knew that we could compete against MRU as a team, we just needed to prove it to ourselves,” Lajoie said. ‘Stay in the moment’ “We just kept reminding our guys to stay in the moment, to not look too far ahead and just get themselves ready for the task at hand.” The comeback for the Ooks started with NAIT Ook winger Josh Koper a 5-3 game three victory in Calgary, thanks chases down the puck dur- to goals from Jordan Draper, Andy Willigar, ing a playoff game Satur- Steele Boomer and Liam Darragh. day March 10 against Mount Royal.
