This paper aims to understand why a hero like Squirrel Girl would be harold and celebrated by fans, while other female heroes with feminist qualities like Captain Marvel or the New Almighty Thor might be receiving not as much praise. Squirrel Girl was created by Will Murray and artist Steve Ditko. Despite both of them having both worked for Marvel and DC, and having written stories about fan favorites like Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, and others, they are most known for creating Squirrel Girl, also known as Doreen Green. Her powers include superhuman strength, a furry, prehensile tail (roughly 3-4 feet long), squirrel-like buck teeth, squirrel-like retractable knuckle claws, as well as being able to communicate with squirrels and summon a squirrel army. She was first introduced in 1991, where she ambushed Iron Man in attempt to impress him and convince him to make her an Avenger. The purpose of this research is to adapt the approaches used by prominent and influential writers and artists in the American superhero/action comic-book field to create an engaging Australian hero comic book. Further, the aim of this thesis is to bridge the gap between the lack of academic writing on the professional practice of the Australian comic industry. In order to achieve this, I explored and learned the methods these prominent and professional US writers and artists use. Compared to the American industry, the creating of comic books in Australia has rarely been documented, particularly in a formal capacity or from a contemporary perspective. The process I used was to navigate through the research and studio practice from the perspective of a solo artist with an interest to learn, and to develop into an artist with a firmer understanding of not only the medium being engaged, but the context in which the medium is being created.

Science Fiction. Invincible Iron Man Vol. Apparently he's been doing this for the entirety of Iron Man's run. Yet the way Stark chose to kill himself was so convoluted and drawn out that it made no sense. No more producing weapons, but rather producing green energy for the whole world. Oct 18, Jeff Lanter rated it really liked it Shelves: graphic-novels. I say that because I am in that category and would have never tried Iron Man otherwise. I think this Omnibus also does a great job of introducing characters from the wider Marvel universe. A good Iron Man story always needs a good secondary story concerning Stark and this book delivers on that front. Fraction does a good job of writing an action-packed story. Invincible Iron Man Collected Editions 1 - 10 of 12 books. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because of the sexist artwork. Only the next arc is set up for the one after and so on and so on. Unfortunately, I dislike all of these storylines intensely. Yes, people whine about how there isn't enough Iron Man action, but that doesn't bother me. Tony's broke and is trying to make amends for his years in the weapons biz by creating cheap energy products the first prototype being a repulsar powered car.

    Expositie ‘Komiks’ – april-mei 2016, Pictura Dordrecht In Oost-Europa zijn veel striptekenaars die een belangrijke bijdrage leveren aan de Negende Kunstvorm. Om je alvast een voorproefje te geven van de deelnemende striptekenaars uit Bulgarije, Polen, Servië en Tsjechië, vertellen we in dit bericht iets meer over enkele tekenaars en hun werk. Samen bestrijken ze verschillende generaties met een werkgebied dat loopt van klassieke boekillustraties, via strips en animatie tot hedendaagse computer-games. Bulgarije Peter “Stan” Stanimirov (Sofia, 1952) is een meester in het maken van illustraties voor kinderen. Hij publiceerde een groot aantal kinderboeken alsook twee bundels met Bulgaarse volksverhalen. Als tekenaar-ontwerper en als artistiek directeur leverde hij een belangrijke bijdrage aan Haemimont Games, een studio die veel populaire videogames heeft uitgebracht. Daarnaast schreef hij een aantal stripverhalen voor het Bulgaarse tijdschrift Rainbow. Ook is hij de vaste illustrator van de Bulgaarse vertalingen van het werk van Stephen King en Dean Koontz. Stanimirov werkt voornamelijk met de digitale middelen van het programma Photoshop en dat met opmerkelijke resultaten. Hij is een van de organisatoren van het Internationale Stripfestival in Sofia en momenteel voorzitter van de stripsectie van de Bulgaarse Kunstenaarsvakbond. Met zijn bijdragen aan bekende Amerikaanse Marvel-comics als Daredevil en Spider Woman maakte Alex Maleev (Sofia, 1971) naam buiten zijn geboorteland, waar hij al eerder strips publiceerde in het tijdschrift Riko. Sinds 1995 woont en werkt hij in de Verenigde Staten.
