Science Fiction. Invincible Iron Man Vol. Apparently he's been doing this for the entirety of Iron Man's run. Yet the way Stark chose to kill himself was so convoluted and drawn out that it made no sense. No more producing weapons, but rather producing green energy for the whole world. I think this Omnibus also does a great job of introducing characters from the wider Marvel universe. A good Iron Man story always needs a good secondary story concerning Stark and this book delivers on that front. Fraction does a good job of writing an action-packed story. Invincible Iron Man Collected Editions 1 - 10 of 12 books. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because of the sexist artwork. Only the next arc is set up for the one after and so on and so on. Unfortunately, I dislike all of these storylines intensely. Yes, people whine about how there isn't enough Iron Man action, but that doesn't bother me. Tony's broke and is trying to make amends for his years in the weapons biz by creating cheap energy products the first prototype being a repulsar powered car. That said, though, just a heads up to those looking to read this: you definitely will want to read Civil War and Secret Invasion first. It has a very photoshopped look because of the coloring, but other than Pepper and Black Widow looking too similar, I thought it served the story well. Using a great concept Stark decides to download his brain into some super- computer causing his brain to shut down completely. Stark repossesses both the Rescue and War Machine armors from Pepper and Rhodey to melt down into parts. The expressions on the characters faces still don't work well with the words being spoken and the there are some weird posturing in this book. AND I ordered volumes 7, 8, and 9 in the series. His earlier style was more cartoony, less photorealistic but was possessed of an energy that would make this storyline sing. Its almost an okay story with a villain who sounds more like a cheap mafia boss and Tony Stark walks in like an action hero with jazzy one-liners and fantastic suits. Also the bland backgrounds in this book full of blank walls and neutral colors do nothing for the eye. Just as Pepper protected Tony. And I may have laughed aloud in maniacal joy whenever you got to be badass. In reading this collection straight through one encounters the problem and the praise in comics- incomplete stories between crossovers. Chocolate Frozen. Admission: Tony Stark is my favorite Marvel character, so I I'm initially typing this on my phone, so I hope to flesh it out a bit at home. There was also a moment where his detail work just plain ruined the plot point — you see, at one point in the story there is a super-secure, individually made Stark-tech hard drive that has proprietary connectors and nobody knows what to do with it. He ends up in the original Iron Man suit he cobbled together in a cave in the desert where he and Osborn duke it out but the journey there is full of pathos, action and quality throughout. This storyline so far is about Stark figuring out who he is after rebooting his mind from the previous book. The writing was okay. Seems like a generic storyline, but Matt Fraction handles it well, balancing superhero revenge story with corporate espionage and excellent character development for even Tony Stark heh, didn't see that one coming. But Norman Osborn intercepted the transmission of the data and used it to take down the Skrull Queen—which made him famous, and Deadpool one ticked-off (and unpaid) merc. Deadpool then hired the reformed villain Taskmaster to help him take on Norman’s covert strike force, the Thunderbolts, and squeeze the cash out of Osborn. Not only did Deadpool and Taskmaster defeat the Thunderbolts, but by the end of the battle, Deadpool managed to steal Osborn’s gold card…and finally got paid! Well…at least enough to cover the money he owed Taskmaster.     Volume 10 Issue 2 (2021) AP Research Superheroines and Sexism: Female Representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Folukemi Olufidipe1, Ms. Yunex Echezabal1 1Doral Academy Charter High School, Miami, FL, USA DOI: https://doi.org/10.47611/jsrhs.v10i2.1430 ABSTRACT The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time and since the premiere of Iron Man in 2008, it has risen to fame as a source of science-fiction entertainment. Sexism in the film industry often goes brushed aside but the widespread success of Marvel Studios calls attention to their treatment of gender roles. This paper explores the progression of six female superheroes in the MCU and what effect feminist movements have had on their roles as well as upcoming productions in the franchise. This paper used an interdisciplinary, mixed- methods design that studied movie scripts and screen time graphs. 14 MCU movies were analyzed through a feminist film theory lens and whenever a female character of interest was chosen, notes were taken on aspects including, but not limited to, dialogue, costume design, and character relationships. My findings showed that females in the MCU are heavily sexualized by directors, costume designers, and even their male co-stars. As powerful as some of these women were found to be, it was concluded that Marvel lacks in female inclusivity. Marvel’s upcoming productions, many of which are female-focused, still marginalize the roles of their superheroines which is a concern for the future of the film industry. Marvel is just one franchise but this study shows how their treatment of female characters uphold patriarchal structures and perpetuate harmful stereotypes that need to be corrected in the film industry as a whole.
