3 2018-19 Western Mustangs Women's Soccer Roster HEAD COACH MARTIN PAINTER Martin Painter (B.A. 1998, LL.B 2002, B.Ed. 2007), a member of the West- ern Mustangs 1999 men’s national championship soccer team, returns as head coach of the Mustangs women’s soccer program for his sixth season after spending five seasons as head coach of the Fanshawe College women’s program from 2007-11. In addition, he has served as head coach of the USL Premier Development League’s FC London and is now the head coach of K-W United FC. After officially joining the team in December 2011, Painter has coached the Mustangs to two consecutive OUA silver medal finishes in 2013, and 2014. Additionally, 2013 saw Painter win both OUA West Coach of the Year, and CIS Coach of the Year. In 2016 Painter led his squad to an OUA bronze medal, while 2017 saw his team capture silver at the OUA Final Four, earning him OUA West Coach of the Year honours. In 2009, Painter led Fanshawe to an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) title and runner-up finish at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Associa- tion (CCAA) Championship. That runner-up finish was the best national placing ever for a women’s soccer team from the OCAA. The 2011 season saw Painter named OCAA Coach of the Year as he led the Falcons to a bronze medal at the OCAA Championship. Painter’s success on the pitch carried over to his tenure at the helm of FC Lon- don, where he guided his team to a record of 19-3-10 in 2010 and was a nomi- nee for Premier Development League (PDL) Coach of the Year after leading his team to the playoffs in back-to-back years in 2009 and 2010. In his roles with both Fanshawe and FC London, Painter showed a knack for recruiting, much of which can be traced to his experience coaching at the elite youth level. Since 2004, he has served as the head coach of the North London Soccer Club, an organization developed to prepare players to compete at the university and collegiate levels. As a player on Western’s men’s team (1997, 1999, 2000, 2004), Painter won three Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships and competed in a pair of national championship tournaments. In addition to his national champi- onship in 1999, he was part of the Mustangs team that earned a bronze medal in 2004 and was named to the CIS National Championship All-Tournament Team. In 2000, he earned OUA all-conference accolades. 2 2018-19 WESTERN MUSTANGS WOMEN’S SOCCER ROSTER NO NAME POS HT ELIG PROGRAM HOMETOWN PRONOUNCIATION 0 Megan Girardi GK 5’6 3 Kinesiology Sault Ste. Item No. 3(ii) Halifax Regional Council August 2, 2011 Committee of the Whole TO: Mayor Kelly and Members of Halifax Regional Council SUBMITTED BY: ___________________________________________________________ Richard Butts, Chief Administrative Officer __________________________________________________________ Mike Labrecque, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Operations DATE: July 18, 2011 SUBJECT: HRM Stadium Analysis – Phase 1 Final Report ORIGIN Regional Council meeting of February 8, 2011, Agenda Item No. 10.1.2 RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that Regional Council: 1. Approve in principle the recommended directions outlined in the Final Report – Phase 1 Stadium Analysis: Halifax Stadium – Business Plan (Attachment 2); 2. Direct staff to proceed to Phase 2 Stadium Analysis: Site Selection and Preliminary Design; and 3. Approve an increase to project CBX01363 in the amount of $275,000 (net HST included) for Phase 2, with funding from the Strategic Growth Reserve, Q126, as outlined in the Budget Implications section of this report. HRM Stadium Analysis Phase 1 Final Report - 2 - August 2, 2011 BACKGROUND Executive Summary On February 8, 2011, Regional Council directed staff to proceed with a process to determine whether or not there is viability for the development of a multi-use stadium in the municipality. The analysis would determine the business case for such a facility, along with an assessment of future opportunities, and comparisons of similar facilities. The potential multi-use facility would have a minimum seating capacity (including a mix of temporary and permanent seating) of 20,000 seats. Regional Council, also at that time, approved a citizen led Steering Committee to oversee and guide the project. The Steering Committee, populated with representatives as directed by Regional Council, has proceeded with their mandate and has submitted its reports and recommendations to Regional Council.

This page was exported from - The Auroran Export date: Sat Sep 25 10:49:34 2021 / +0000 GMT Aurora FC pulls draw, loss in League 1 opening weekend By Jake Courtepatte The Aurora FC men managed to claw back to pick up a point in Saturday's League 1 season opener, while the women were left scratching their heads in a shutout loss. Debuting at their new home of Stewart Burnett Park, the Aurora men found themselves down early to Master's Futbol of Toronto Saturday night when a cross found the back of the net 14 minutes in. Karamvir Mehmi notched his first goal with the Aurora club just a few minutes later, though Aurora found themselves down 2 ? 1 heading into the half. With just twelve minutes to go before stoppage time, Morey Doner put home a pair of back-to-back goals to give Aurora its first lead of the game, though Masters found the 3 ? 3 equalizer before the final whistle. "It's a new field, out first game and I thought they put on a great performance," said Aurora head coach Derek O'Keeffe. "Unfortunate not to win, but credit to the team for getting a point in the first game. It was a good experience out and most of our players tonight are younger, and they held their own." O'Keeffe said he was ?satisfied? with his team's opening performance. "The way we approached the game in terms of our mindset, our attitude, our mentality, was second to none and I just think we need to keep that going and we can be a very competitive team this year." The men return to the pitch at University of Windsor Stadium on Sunday, before returning home to host the Vaughan Azzurri on May 13.
