  • Spring 2018 Council Members
NEWSLETTER OF MNA REGION 5 VOLUME EIGHT, ISSUE TWO • Spring 2018 Council Members Joan Ballantyne, Norwood Hospital Chair (2016-2018) Labor Notes Conference submitted by Linda Barton. I was honored to be able to attend this year’s Labor Notes Conference. It was truly inspiring to be among some Barbara Tiller, Tufts Medical Center 2,000 participants, union members, and leaders and to experience the overwhelming Vice Chair (2016-2018) feeling of solidarity. There were many different types of unions present, but we all came together in Chicago to share our fight for wage security, pensions, health Kathy Reardon, Norwood Hospital insurance, safety on the job, and, most importantly, to be given adequate staffing for Secretary (2017-2018) our patients, students, events, customers, passengers. The classes were many and varied — topics encouraging new ideas, thoughts, and ways to approach fellow union Dan Rec, B&W Faulkner Hospital members and management. If I am lucky enough to be able to attend in two years, I Treasurer (2017-2019) would like to go to more classes focused on subjects/professions other than healthcare, as I found it fascinating to hear different, yet the same issues as ours being discussed. There were some great MNA Board Rep (2016-2018) success stores, which provided hope and inspiration, and enhanced our collective belief in belonging to Dan Rec, B&W Faulkner Hospital a union. In these days of political and social differences, with unions being decimated by cases like Janus, I was re-energized by the enthusiasm and strength of the union spirit. MNA Board Rep (2017-2019) Joan Ballantyne, Norwood Hospital AFL-CIO Organizing Institute submitted by Joan Ballantyne.

  • Your Choice 3-Tier Option— a Tiered Provider Network Plan 2018 Hospital Tiering List
Your Choice 3-Tier Option— A Tiered Provider Network Plan 2018 Hospital Tiering List Your Choice is a Tufts Health Plan tiered provider network comprised of primary care providers, specialists and hospitals. As part of our National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) accreditation and our own quality standards, we are committed to contracting only with high-performing hospitals. Every doctor and every hospital in the Your Choice network has been carefully evaluated, and every provider and hospital in the Your Choice network meets our standard for quality of care. Because not all doctors and hospitals charge the same costs, we’ve factored in cost-efficiency in our evaluation, and we have separated Your Choice providers into three tiers. Provider groups and their primary hospital affiliation are in the same tier to reflect referral patterns that those physicians would make most often.* Below is a list of all the hospitals in Tufts Health Plan’s network and their tiers. In choosing a tier, members must consider how much they are willing to pay out-of-pocket for the doctor and/ or hospital they prefer. If members want the most cost-effective option, they should choose a doctor or hospital from Tier 1. If the doctor or hospital is in Tier 2 or Tier 3, they have the freedom to choose, but they will pay higher out-of-pocket costs. Members pay different levels of copayments, coinsurance, and/or deductibles depending on their plan design and the tier of the provider delivering a covered service or supply. Your plan may make changes to a provider’s tier annually.
