The Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County 800 Vine Street Cincinnati, Ohio 45202‐2071 513‐369‐6900 www.cincinnatilibrary.org Located in Cincinnati’s historic Mount Auburn neighborhood, the William Howard Taft National Historic Site is comprised of the home and the Taft Education Center. William Howard Taft, who was 27th President and 10th Chief Justice of The United States, lived in this home from the time of his birth in 1857 until he was 25 years of age. The William Howard Taft National Historic Site was established in 1969 and is administered by the National Parks Service.

In addition to having many pieces of furniture and interior decoration that belonged to the Taft family, the Site has over 400 book volumes located on shelves in the Taft home or in storage in the Taft Education Center. While these volumes were previously cataloged within an internal database, they were not available to searchers over the Internet.

In 2007, the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County agreed to catalog the Taft collection and thereby make it accessible to searchers through its own catalog, available over the Internet at http://catalog.cincinnatilibrary.org. Of the 305 titles cataloged in the fall of 2007, approximately 65 were duplicates of titles already held by the Public Library, and approximately 239 were new to the Public Library’s catalog.

This volume presents a catalog of the Taft Site’s collection in author/title order. The notes describing physical characteristics of the volumes and including the Taft Site’s “WIHO” call number were drawn from descriptions already given in the National Parks Service’s database. It should be noted that the Historic Site’s materials are not available for borrowing; however, they may be made available for examination with appropriate notice. Individuals wishing to examine materials found in this catalog should contact the William Howard Taft National Historic Site and refer to the WIHO number given in this catalog.
