Collaborative Provision Register Controlled Document January 2020 – Version 20 Collaborative Provision Register Version 20 – January 2020 1 Types of Collaboration Articulation Agreement An arrangement whereby students successfully completing an approved programme of study in a partner institution are guaranteed entry on to one of Bangor University’s undergraduate programmes with advanced standing. Franchise Agreement An arrangement in which the University authorises an approved partner organisation to deliver one of the University’s programmes. The programme must be delivered according to the University’s regulations and procedures. Validation A process by which the University judges a module or programme developed and delivered by another organisation and approves it as being of an appropriate standard and quality to lead to an award of the University. The programme is delivered according to the rules and regulations of the partner, but these must be approved in advance by the University. Dual award An arrangement in which the University and one or more other bodies with degree awarding powers together provide a single jointly delivered programme leading to separate awards and separate certification from each institution. Joint award An arrangement in which the University and another degree awarding body together provide a programme leading to a single award made jointly by both participants. A single degree certificate bearing the names of both institutions and their competent authorities is issued on graduation. Modular arrangements Bangor University modules delivered in association with an outside organisation, whose staff make a significant contribution to the teaching and assessment of students. All contributions are moderated by Bangor University staff and University appointed External Examiners. Embedded College Embedded on-campus college for international students to start their studies at Bangor University. Delivers the first stages of the International Incorporated Bachelor's Degree and the International Incorporated Master's. It is run in partnership with Oxford International Education Group Student Exchange Student Exchange arrangements can either involve Bangor University students studying abroad for one or two semesters or International students studying at Bangor University for one or two semesters. Professional Practice Professional practice placement periods for students that enable them to placements develop and acquire the skills and competencies they are required to demonstrate as part of their award. Programmes are subject to external accreditation and regulation by professional bodies. History Nave retains small elements of C14 fabric at east end; chancel and transepts built in C16, the whole much restored by Henry Kennedy at the expense of Edward Douglas-Pennant, first Baron Penrhyn, in 1853 when the nave was lengthened, its windows replaced and the parapets above original string course rebuilt; the present central tower (replacing C16 one demolished in that year), west porch and north vestry were also added at this time. An earlier church, claimed to be of C6 origin, is said to have stood nearby. Exterior Cruciform parish church consisting of nave, chancel, central tower, transepts, north vestry and west porch. Roughly coursed rubblestone to nave, chancel and transepts with ashlar to parapets concealing shallow-pitched lead roofs; rock-faced ashlar to tower. Nave buttressed in 2 bays has mid-C19 3-light windows with panel tracery on both north and south, those to west with hoodmoulds; north side also has small rectangular window lighting gallery at west end; embattled parapets, including to west porch which has pointed and nook-shafted outer doorway with quatrefoils and trefoils to spandrels of square label; single-light trefoil-headed windows to sides and pointed inner doorway with Decorated-style tracery to door. Chancel has 5-light east window with hollow spandrels in 4-centred arch with hoodmould; similar windows in 3 lights to north and south but without hoodmoulds, north blocked; below and to right of east window is narrow infilled doorway with slate voussoirs (entrance to C19 burial vault).
