Jlin, Donnacha Costello, M.E.S.H., HKE, David Cordero and Soul Jazz Records Sound System, are the first artists confirmed for Lapsus Festival 2016.

• The decision to extend both the space and time schedule are major pieces of news for the event that after the "sold out" 2015 edition, has established itself as a must for lovers of avant-garde electronic music.

Barcelona 05/02/16 - Lapsus Festival returns to the CCCB following the success of the last event, in which the organizers had to put up a makeshift "sold out" sign within minutes of opening the doors. And the festival continues to expand both its schedule and location. More than 12 hours of uninterrupted music will begin at noon and end at dawn in the three locations where the festival will be held from now on: added to the already known CCCB Theatre are the Pati de les Dones, which will welcome the first festival goers, and the legendary Hall of the CCCB, which will house those acts best suited to the dance floor.

The festival, which will take place on April 2, 2016, will feature, among others, the following live performances:

Jlin [USA] Planet Mu

The American producer Jlin is undoubtedly the major revelation of the season. A woman in a man's world, such as , who has managed to redesign the foundations of the genre with her first LP "Dark Energy" (Planet Mu, 2015). An that has been praised as "Record of the Year" by prestigious publications worldwide such as The Wire and The Quietus thanks to its technical excellence, sense and sensibility. Her participation in the Lapsus Festival will be her first performance in Spain and will also coincide with the imminent release of her new album "Black Origami: The Motherboard". Essential.

M.E.S.H. [USA] PAN

The exuberant landscapes of abstract sound played by James Whipple, not only blur the line between music and sound design, but also question our relationship with hypertechnology and information overload. The excellent "Piteous Gate" –released by the prestigious PAN - features a brilliant live set thanks to the specific use that Whipple draws from his CDJ, using it as an instrument. The man behind the Janus Berlin collective, comes to Spain with a live show of risky electronic music on the sidelines of club music.

Donnacha Costello [IRE] Raster-Noton / Ursa

His "Colorseries" was without doubt a milestone in the history of club music. But fans of the experimental face of the Irish producer, in particular the extraordinary "Together Is The New Alone" (Mille Plateux, 2001) are in luck: "Love From Dust" and its excellent follow-up "Stay Perfectly Still", both released in 2015, are two ambient jewels which take us back to a more sensitive and evocative Donnacha Costello. Two pieces of work recorded live using only a Buchla Music Easel synthesizer and a few effects pedals. Consequently, his live performance for Lapsus Festival will be identical to the original recording. Donnacha Costello also wants to share his experience at the controls of Buchla Music Easel with all of you, and will provide a small workshop-conference during the festival, about which we will give you all the information in due time.

HKE [UK] Dream Catalogue™

HKE -formerly known as Hong Kong Express- is responsible for Dream Catalogue™, a record label which, in just two years, has managed to carve out the well-known tag "cult label" after releasing a wealth of work of extremely high quality. HKE is coming to Spain for the first time with an audiovisual live set that will delight lovers of ambient in general, and vaporwave specially. His participation in Lapsus Festival also coincides with the release of the compilation "The Best Of Dream Catalogue, 2814-2815" and the Dream Catalogue™ residence on the influential NTS Radio.

David Cordero [ES] Home Normal

At one time put on hold, at least temporarily, his adventure as Úrsula -one of the best and most original projects that the Spanish indie scene has ever produced- David Cordero starts a new solo project by releasing the impressive "El Rumor Del Oleaje” (the sound of the waves) for the Japanese label Home Normal. A recording in which Cordero’s unique electroacoustic structures are supported by field recordings made at different locations on the Spanish coast, immersing the listener in delicate instrumental passages that encourage you to take a fresh look at the sea. With the same fascination as the first time.

Soul Jazz Records Sound System [UK] Soul Jazz Records

Those responsible for the legendary record shop Sounds Of The Universe and the record label Soul Jazz Records -whose compilations are true encyclopaedias of musical archaeology- will be welcoming the first guests at Lapsus Festival 2016 through an extensive DJ set that will delight lovers of unapologetic musical eclecticism: funk, soul, reggae, latin, disco, boogie, hip hop, acid, jungle... Everything, absolutely everything is possible in their sets. Quality guaranteed.
