Pg. 9 By Charles Macphee 3 Here we are in June and hopefully the warm sunny weather is here to stay! Firstly, the club sends their deepest condolences to Empress 29 and 31 Morgan James of the loss of his grandmother. It has been a busy couple months for the board either in their personal lives or club wise. I was in Ottawa for the May long weekend for fun but also to represent the club at T's 2nd anniversary weekend. I also presented them with a Spearhead appreciation award along side with our publication director Xavier. T's pub has really made a mark in their community by being supportive of the community groups there. They will also be front and center in November for MLO which is the weekend of November 15. Our annual boat cruise is moving right along, it is scheduled for Monday July 1st on the Obsession III. Price for members is only $50, contact our Vice President if you want a ticket. It is $70 for non-members they can be purchased at The Black Eagle, The Men's Room and Out on the Street. Members will not get the discounted if bought at those 3 places. The board has approved a few new members and you can meet them on the boat or helping out at Paint yer Burger. Paint yer Burger has been scheduled for Saturday July 20 at The Black Eagle starting at 3 pm. Our Vice President has our models already so come out for a burger or dog and help paint our models. It is only $5 admission which will get you the bbq. Bring you artistic talents and lets cover our models this year, don't forget we will auction off their jockstraps so lets get them painted also. All money raised at Paint yer Burger goes to our charity of choice witch is The PWA Food for life program. A huge congratulations goes out to Mike Hart for winning the brotherhood award for this year. A big Thank You to our other nominees Morgan James and Paul Ciantar for the work you do in the community. Elections are coming up soon for the new board witch will take us into our 50th anniversary on March 13-15. We will be having anniversary committee meeting soon and if you are interested on being involved please contact our Vice President. We are moving along slowing on donating our history to The Lesbian and Gay Archives, we are not rushing this process as we have to catalog everything we have plus make arrangements to get things that older members are giving us, also we want to get their imput on what we are donating. Please contact the board if you have any questions. Our next OGM will be held on Saturday July 27 from 2-4 at the 519 community centre in room 204. Please come out as we will be doing our elections. To submit material or to make advertising enquiries, contact the Publications Director or any Spearhead Board Member. 5 Good Day Gentlemen, hope this article finds you well and enjoying this gorgeous sunny summer weather and Go Raptors excitement. I’ve been pretty busy with travelling for work to Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, and Montreal. I can finally now just settle back into reality in Toronto, I’m done travelling for a while. July 1 st is our Annual Canada Day Boat Cruise and I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. Bring some friends and possible new members with you to meet our group. I’m hoping some of our new members will be on the boat for a chance to get to know them better. July 20 th from 3 – 6:30pm is Paint Yer Burger and we have two very sexy paint canvasses lined up. Jeremy Feist our last Mr. Leather and Bello Bello Puppy - Justin St John will also be volunteering to be painted. Tickets are just $5 and they include a wonderful afternoon on the Black Eagle Patio, a BBQ with hot dogs and hamburgers, raffles, prizes and a jock strap auction. Come out and have a cold one or two and join in the fun. If you interested in volunteering to help at the event, we do require people to BBQ, take money at the door and to handle the models and Painters. Our 50 th anniversary is coming up in March 2020 and I’m looking for volunteers to take over various events that we will be hosting in the village. We will be putting together a committee to take on the 50 th within the next few weeks to make this an awesome event. Please put your name forward as the 50 th is a milestone for Spearhead. One other event that I am going to be attend is being held at the Power Plant at Harbourfront Centre On July 18 th called “Polari” and hosted by one of our new members. Tomorrow Saturday June 15th will be our last bar night from 9pm-2am at the bachelor forum. While the majority of the current Rams wanted to end things quietly I feel as if you deserve to know now because it is a club with a 46 year history and I know so many people and organizations have contributed to the success and life of the Rochester Rams. As the active Vice President I personally want to thank you all and how much help you’ve lent to the organization within the past 46 years. While this is sad for me that doesn’t mean our leather community will be lost! We wear leather everywhere we go and the history will never be forgotten. Thank you everyone! He was from a large family; 4 boys and 3 girls and the holidays always brought everyone back to the farm. But Steven wasn’t coming home this year. He had been diagnosed HIV positive and his father made it clear that he would not be welcomed. The stigma associated with HIV/AIDS is still out there.
