García Vinuesa 301 AUTORES 318 4 Cuadernos de Etnomusicología nº3 Presentación Dedicamos este tercer número de la revista Cuadernos de Etnomusicología a la relación de la música con los medios audiovisuales. En este volumen se recogen casi una veintena de artículos y trabajos de investigación que, en su mayor parte desde el ámbito académico, se han realizado a propósito de la inclusión de la música en el lenguaje audiovisual. Diferentes géneros tanto musicales como audiovisuales conviven en estas páginas y son analizados desde diferentes perspectivas de estudio. La música ha estado presente en los medios audiovisuales desde el momento mismo del nacimiento del cine, acompañándolo en su evolución y en su desarrollo. Por eso hasta hace un par de décadas resultaba paradójico que los estudios sobre comunicación obviaran el estudio de la música por considerarlo ajeno a la estructura narrativa. Afortunadamente, desde hace un tiempo los estudios de música de audiovisual se están haciendo un hueco en el campo académico y comienza a entenderse y tomarse conciencia del esencial papel del elemento musical en la construcción mediática. Al mismo tiempo, la música en los medios, a menudo postergada, empieza a ocupar el lugar que merece en los estudios de etnomusicología, proverbialmente más volcados en la música de tradición oral, aumentando su valoración, y siendo tratada como objeto de estudio musicológico, sociológico y antropológico de primer orden. El presente número de Cuadernos de Etnomusicología sirve como muestra del panorama académico y de las últimas tendencias de la investigación en la disciplina, correspondientes a los cinco ejes temáticos en los que se enmarcan los trabajos: “Música e identidades”, “Metodologías” de investigación, “Música de audiovisuales y didáctica”, “Música y televisión” y una úlitma sección consagrada a “Cine, música y autores”. Muchos de estos artículos son el resultado de estudios presentados en el VI Simposio La creación musical en la banda sonora (Salamanca 2011), si bien han seguido el correspondiente proceso de selección, revisión de pares ciegos y posterior reelaboración para ser publicados. Confiamos en que la aportación que el campo de las músicas insertas en los medios audioviuales realiza al ámbito de la etnomusicología siga dando frutos que permitan continuar indagando en los aspectos culturales de la música en las sociedades contemporáneas. Diego García Peinazo1 Resumen La música ocupa un lugar destacado en la articulación de significados relativos a los imaginarios sobre las ciudades. Dimensiones como la política, la identidad o las concepciones de tradición y modernidad son re-significadas en el discurso audiovisual, adquiriendo una relevancia especial en el contexto urbano. Este artículo plantea un acercamiento a estas realidades a través del estudio de un videoclip y un spot utilizados para la campaña publicitaria del Proyecto Córdoba 2016: Ciudad Europea de la Cultura. Por medio del análisis semiótico, puede observarse cómo el rock andaluz logra articular y crear sentido en torno a temas como la juventud, la innovación tecnológica y el europeísmo. Así, actúa como delimitador territorial a la vez que plantea dialécticas entre lo local y lo global: de un lado, las dimensiones cordobesa y andaluza, y del otro, la dimensión europea. De esta forma, el análisis musicológico ofrece herramientas valiosas para analizar los procesos de significación de lo andaluz en los productos audiovisuales. Palabras clave: ciudad, tradición y modernidad, rock andaluz, europeísmos, identidad. Abstact The music occupies a prominent place in the articulation of meanings around city imaginaries. Concepts such as politics, identity or tradition and modernity led to new meanings in audiovisual discourse, and this question is accentuated in the urban context. This paper presents an approach to these realities through the study of a music video and a spot (audiovisual advertisement) used for the for the promotion of the project Cordoba 2016 Ciudad Europea de la Cultura. Through semiotic analysis, we observe how Andalusian rock is able to articulate and generate sense around youth, technological innovations and Europeanism. The Andalusian Rock operates as territorial delimiter and it develops a debate between local and global discourse. On the one hand, Cordoba (and Andalusian) dimension; and in the other hand, European dimension.     July 26, 2013 Bugs Bunny and the NSO come to Wolf Trap By Roger Catlin For a generation of Americans, the earliest love of classical music came not through shared family symphony experiences or early childhood music appreciation classes, but through mayhem-laced TV cartoons, often involving a bunny in drag. Walt Disney may have taken the high road to classical music interpretation through some early Silly Symphony cartoons and “Fantasia” (which in its first run was a flop). But it was Warner Bros. and particularly the animators behind Bugs Bunny who may have been the most successful in drumming key classical passages into the heads of impressionable audiences when the studio’s theatrical cartoons of the 1940s and ’50s were incessantly replayed on TV in the ’60s. Warner Bros. - Still image from the 1950's Merrie Melodies short, “What's Opera, Doc?” Even today, the most serious gray-haired music lover, sitting in the world’s most august concert halls, may be listening to the timeless refrains of Rossini or Wagner only to have the phrase “Kill the Wabbit!” come to mind. Conductor George Daugherty has embraced this meld of classical knowledge and pop-culture conditioning and celebrates it in his “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony.” Its first tour, in 1990, was such a success that it spawned, as most successes in Hollywood do, a sequel. “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony II” comes to Wolf Trap on Thursday and Friday, with Daugherty conducting the National Symphony Orchestra.
