I. Who is Jesus? 1. Is he only a great man? 2. Is he only a great religious leader? 3. Is the only a Prophet? 4. Only a great teacher? 5. He is the promised Messiah! 6. He and his father are one. a. II. Jesus Transfigured before Them 1. Sometimes we need to be with our Lord alone to grasp who he really is. 2. He really is God. 3. God's love manifested, evidence becoming apparent through the appearance of. 4. Even if we have been with God awhile, we sometimes forget who he is and what he does for us and how much he loves us.

III. Why was Jesus Transfigured? 1. The disciples needed their faith strengthened for what was ahead of them. 2. They need to know the power of God and get insight into the Holy Spirit that they were soon to be filled with. a. Acts 1:8 b. John 14:16-20 3. the transfiguration is for us to learn who Jesus is, and so we can learn to truly live for him.

IV. The God, who is Jesus, Teaches Us: 1. That we don't set up camp and live on the mountain. a. Peter wanted to stay, to remain in the glory, but there is wrought to do. b. God wants to use these glorious mountain moments to empower us to go serve others. 2. We are to be devoted to Christ alone. a. We need to keep our eyes only on Jesus. b. We don't worship man: Elijah and Moses c. we worship God and God alone. d. This mountain should leave us speechless. e. It should bring us to our knees in devotion to our Lord and savior Christ Jesus. f. This mountain should empower us to do God's work.
