As I told you I thought I would not have been a R&B guy but these marvelous musicians, the guests and this awesome atmosphere enlightened me on something different :-) Please thank all musicians in my name! I would love to come back, one day, but this is very unlikely ... It is so good and so important to experience again and again that you find compassionate friends everywhere. Maybe this is our only chance we have to live in peace. Let us dance and celebrate life! Please keep me informed about your events! Blue Ink July 14 Page 8 BLUSD Member Band Spotlight Our JammingOut The House of Blues July Featured Member Band: BREAKING BLUES reaking Blues was formed by Steve Fritzenkotter and Bonnie 'BB' Bace, ex-members of Maxwell Street. The new lineup B plays dynamic vintage and current blues, with a little rock and soul. Breaking Blues consists of slide guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, harmonica and female vocals. Initial practices demonstrate a promising chemistry, and building on that, the band is now poised to entertain all over San Diego. Joe Dugan (drums) has a rare dynamic touch on drums, from light brushes to pulsing rock. He can shuffle, rock or groove. Wayne Dewey (bass) holds solid bass lines totally locked in sync with Joe. His steady playing gives the rest of the band room to stretch out. Steve Fritzenkotter, (guitar) adds the distinctive sound of slide guitar as well as rhythm and leads. His influences include Robert Johnson, the Rolling Stones, Muddy and Roy Rogers (the slide player, not the cowboy). John Adams (harmonica) is a recent transplant from Boston where he was a founding member of the Deluded Blues band. John was the runner up this year in the San Diego harp fest unknown players jam. He has played harp with bands all over the world, from the British Virgin Islands, Beijing, Cabo Wabo, Boston, SF and now SD. Damian Onderisin plays keyboard, drums and guitar. He provides the band with bluesy keyboard riffs and rhythms. His influences include Steely Dan and reggae music. Bonnie 'BB' Bace (vocals) is from the East Coast and made her way to San Diego via and LA. Bonnie fronts the band with strong and soulful vocal style. She loves to sing rock, jazz, standards, R&B and you’ll enjoy hearing her sing her first love, “the blues.” Breaking Blues is committed to keeping local blues alive. Reports are that they had a good set July 16 at the House of Blues. Thanks to all that attended. (The BLUSD Featured Spot is generally on the 3rd Wednesday of the Month)
