Dee Miller Band Pr
Dee Miller is a longtime Minnesota musician who has shared the stage with Koko Taylor, Janiva Magness, Bobby Messina as well as local favorites Lamont Cranston, Annie Mack, Renee Austin and so many more incredible musicians. From her early days as a child listening to her mother singing the blues around the house in Maplewood, MN, Dee has been a singer. She first started singing along with Dione Warwick and Aretha Franklin recordings as she crafted her skills. The sounds of Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, and Mahalia Jackson were part of a life spent singing as she walked down the railroad tracks next door to her house. During these times, Dee realized the power of music and what a refuge it is for her. Dee's first professional gig was with the blues band "Minnesota Barking Ducks". She has also performed with bands such as "Liberty Street", "Bottom Line"', "Night Train" with her dear friend Liz Cummings, and several others before she started the Dee Miller Band in 2004. Dee is also currently singing with "Who Nu". Dee has performed in many local music establishments. On a national level, Dee has performed in Chicago at Buddy Guy's Legends, and in Washington D.C. at Madam's Organ. Dee has also performed on stages in Memphis, San Francisco, Greenwich Village, Key Largo and Florence, Italy. Members of the band include: Craig Clark (guitar), Eric Meyer(bass), Jesse Mueller(keyboard,), Mike DuBois(drums), Awards: 2018 Minnesota Blues Society Hall of Fame “Performer” 2018. Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival: Blues Takes Centre Stage
Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival: Blues takes centre stage Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival is pleased to announce the largest blues line up in the festival’s history. Over 25 major blues concerts will take place from 17 - 26 July 2015, alongside an outstanding line up of jazz, funk, soul and swing performances. We present a host of major American names, many of whom are making exclusive UK appearances. We have a big night of Chicago Blues, and a celebration of the centenary of Willie Dixon. In a special project, two leading Scottish blues musicians have been on a US road tour, hooking up with great musicians from San Francisco, Memphis, Mississippi and Florida along the way. They’ll be coming over to Edinburgh in July. We cross all blues styles, from Mississippi country blues to contemporary rock-blues, but our emphasis is on the core of the music, and picking out the original, the special, and the innovative. We go back to Chicago and the music of the 50’s and 60’s for two of our feature concerts. Muddy Waters’ son, Mud Morganfield, sounds uncannily like his “pop” and sings his great tunes with a band that recreates the authentic sound. Lurrie Bell is another great son of Chicago, and the guitarist is currently enjoying a golden moment with his latest album winning awards for the best Blues Album of the year. They play the Festival Theatre on July 24. Willie Dixon was probably the greatest songwriter in blues history. His music fuelled the success of Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, and Little Walter, but also created huge successes for rock bands. -
