We are proud of the accomplishments made by our 50 Asian Americans in business and the 3 recipients of the Young Entrepreneur Award which is presented for the first time. We are equally honored to have Y.S. Chi, Vice Chairman of Reed Elsevier Worldwide, accept this year’s Pinnacle Award. They are not only ideal representatives James Wohn of our Asian American community, but they are great Americans who happen to be Chairman, Dinner Committee Asian. We received a record number of qualified nominations this year than in previous years, and the quality of the nominations has been high. Reading through all of the nominations was truly inspiring and uplifting for me and the Committee Members. However, it was not easy picking only 50! This year, we are fortunate to see even greater diversity among our Asian American winners. Chinese, Japanese Korean, Indian, Thai, Cambodian and Filipino communities are proudly represented in our Outstanding 50. Tonight’s special event is a culmination of the tireless efforts of many individuals. I would especially like to thank our fearless leader John Wang, our Planning Committee members and volunteers. Our corporate sponsors have been vitally instrumental, including HSBC (Platinum Sponsor), IBM, The New York Times, Verizon, Con Edison McGraw-Hill, AXA, Time Warner and Colgate-Palmolive. I want to especially thank my new bank, North Fork Bank, for supporting my efforts in making this dinner the premiere Asian American event of the year. Most of all, it is a great honor to have the well-respected New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer as our keynote speaker.
