...\Jennifer Carva... On behalf of the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals and Social Model Recovery Systems, welcome to WSOS.

Dear Participants, On behalf of our respective organizations, we wish to welcome you to the Western States Opioid Summit. Being here today demonstrates that you care, that you are open to learning, and that you are prepared to take back what you learn here to your organizations, communities, and families. Together we can use this knowledge to stop “not one more death” in this epidemic. As a community of caring people, we can be the agents of change who can influence decision makers and the public so that prevention, education, and treatment for drug addiction is the “norm” rather than the exception. As you attend events and listen to speakers, keep in mind that this is your opportunity to be part of something bigger; this event is for you to approach the problem of opioid abuse and overdose as part of a multifaceted team of profes- sionals, community advocates, and caring family members and friends who cannot sit idly in the face of this crisis. Be strong. Be active. Be part of the solution. Learn… give… move us forward.
