GREENWICH ACADEMY TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS IN CONNECTICUT If the student lives in Greenwich: The Greenwich Board of Education provides free transportation to Greenwich residents who attend Greenwich private and public schools. Please note that the Greenwich Board of Education Bus for Greenwich Academy runs Monday through Friday. There is no Friday afternoon service. The morning Greenwich Bus pick-up location times are determined by the Board of Education. The Board of Education will provide you with the schedule. Schedules also are posted in the “Back to School” edition of the Greenwich Time at the end of August every year OR on the Greenwich Academy website link http://www.greenwichacademy.org/gwichtownbus?rc=0. The afternoon Greenwich Bus Shuttle departs from the Greenwich Academy Upper School circle each afternoon except on Friday. Due to traffic congestion, there is only one bus that picks up students at Greenwich Academy in the afternoons. The Greenwich Bus Shuttle arrives at Greenwich Academy between 4:00 PM – 4:10 PM on Monday through Thursday and no service on Fridays. Once the students are picked up at Greenwich Academy, they are transported to Greenwich Country Day School by shuttle and join Greenwich Country Day School, Westchester Fairfield Hebrew Academy and Eagle Hill School students who board buses that are waiting for them in the Greenwich Country Day School parking lot. These Greenwich buses depart the Greenwich Country Day parking lot no later than 4:30 PM on Monday – Thursday. Greenwich Bus transportation not available on Fridays. If the student lives outside of Greenwich in Fairfield County (Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, New Canaan, Fairfield, Westport, Milford, Wilton) or will arrive by train: Greenwich Academy owns and operates the Greenwich Academy Bus, which provides service at a cost to Greenwich Academy and Brunswick School students. Currently there are morning five pick-up locations: Darien Voucher Lot on the corner of Squab Lane and Leroy Avenue, Giovanni’s Waters Edge in Darien the Elm Tree Mall Garage at Exit 8, the Stamford and Greenwich train stations. This bus also drops off students at Brunswick School at the Maher Avenue and Greenwich Country Day School campuses. There is no GA Bus afternoon service from Brunswick School. The Greenwich Academy Bus arrives at the Upper School circle by 7:40 AM each day. In the afternoon, the Greenwich Academy Bus departs from the Upper School circle at 4:15 PM on Monday – Thursday and at 3:00 PM on Fridays. The afternoon stops are Greenwich Train Station, Stamford Train Station, Elm Street Mall Garage at Exit 8, Giovanni’s Waters Edge in Darien and the Darien Voucher Lot. If the student lives in New Canaan or Darien: For those students who live in New Canaan north of the Merritt Parkway, there is a bus service that runs from the New Canaan YMCA and in Darien. There is a charge for this service. If you are interested in obtaining more details about this program, please contact Leros Limo at 914.747.2300. The Leros Van Service departs New Canaan YMCA and a stop in Darien then transports students to the Greenwich Academy Upper School circle, arriving at 7:40 AM on Monday – Friday. The afternoon Lero’s Van Service departs from Greenwich Academy at 3:45 PM on Monday – Thursday. There is no Leros service on Friday afternoon. IN NEW YORK If the student arrives at the Greenwich Train Station: Greenwich Academy owns and operates the Greenwich Academy Bus, which provides service at a cost to Greenwich Academy and Brunswick School students. If the student lives in Rye: No public transportation is provided; however, the student may take the train to Greenwich Train Station where a shuttle will be available to transport her to Greenwich Academy for a fee (please see above). If the student lives in Mamaroneck or Larchmont: Public transportation is provided to Greenwich Academy for students who live within a 15-mile distance from GA. If interested, please register before April 1 by contacting the Mamaroneck Public School System at 914.220.3007 If the student lives in Harrison, West Harrison or Purchase: Public transportation is provided to Greenwich Academy (see guidelines below*). The Harrison Central School District provides free transportation under the following guidelines: • Kindergarten children (attaining age 5 on or before December 31 of the school year) and children in grades K-5 who reside no less than one-half mile or more than 15 miles from the school they legally attend. • Also children in grades 6-12 who reside no less than one mile or more than 15 miles from the school they legally attend. • In order to obtain this service, a transportation application must be completed and submitted to the Harrison Central School District Transportation Office by April 1 of the current school year. First-time applications must provide three proofs of residency. For further information, please call the Harrison Central School District at 914.835.3300. If the student lives in New Rochelle: Public transportation is provided to Greenwich Academy for students until Group VI who live within a 10-mile distance from GA. If interested, please register before April 1 by contacting the New Rochelle Public School District at 914.576.4230. If the student lives in White Plains, Hartsdale, Elmsford or Yonkers: Public transportation is provided to Greenwich Academy for students who live within a 15-mile distance from GA. If interested, please register before April 1 by contacting the White Plains Public School District at 914.428.7000. If the student lives in Bedford: Public transportation is provided to Greenwich Academy for students who live within a 15-mile distance from GA. If interested, please register before April 1 by contacting the Bedford Public School System at 914.241.6001. If the student lives in Byram Hills or Armonk: Public transportation is provided to Greenwich Academy for students who live within a 15-mile distance from GA.
