Check the calendar The School's website calendar www.thehill.org/calendar is the place to go to find all the events, activities, and sports occurring on a particular day. The calendar is updated regularly. Students needing transportation for the Winter Vacation should reserve seats by Dec. 17. On Thursday, December 20, students will depart campus for Winter Vacation. The school offers shuttle services for this break to the Philadelphia Airport, 30th Street Train Station in Philadelphia, JFK Airport, and New York City's Port Authority Bus Station, but reservations must be made in advance. If a student needs transportation for leaving campus and returning to campus, those reservations both must be made before the Holiday Weekend. If you have not discussed travels plans with your child yet, please do so soon, so you can plan accordingly. Please do not schedule flights at times that will not allow students to take advantage of the regularly scheduled buses that are listed below. Return: The buses/shuttles will return to Hill on Monday, January 7, 2018. They will pick up for departure at the following times: • JFK Airport - Meet the chaperone at Terminal 1 - 3:00 p.m. departure • The New York Port Authority, 8th Avenue and 42nd Street on the street - 4 p.m. departure • 30th Street Train Station - Meet the chaperone at the Flower Shop - 5:30 p.m. departure • Philadelphia Airport - Meet the chaperone at "C" Terminal Baggage Claim - 6:30 p.m. departure (Arrival back at Hill expected at 7:30 p.m.) The deadline to sign up is Monday, December 17 at noon. College Tip-Off for Fifth Formers: Dec 19-20 Important Information for Fifth Formers and Parents On Wednesday night, December 19, beginning at 6:30 p.m., we will hold our annual College Kickoff program, a required event for fifth form students that will give you an inside look into how colleges shape their incoming freshman classes. With the help of 10 college admissions officers who will lead mock committee meetings, you will learn firsthand what goes into the important decisions that colleges make each year. Parents are encouraged to attend and gain valuable insight on Wednesday, and then again on Thursday morning at 10 a.m., when we will introduce you to Naviance, a web-based program we use for the college application process. We will also go over the timeline for the coming year and tips for a smooth process. The scholarship is unique in that a student applies during junior year, not as a senior. Eligible applicants must be American citizens or legal permanent residents. As stated by the foundation, “scholars are selected primarily on academic excellence.
