Vintage :: 2013 was an excellent vintage, characterised by a warm, dry summer and cool harvest period. This ensured Riesling retained its fresh, natural acidity and vibrant flavours. This was one of the earliest vintages on record, with all varieties showing excellent varietal definition.

Cellaring Potential :: Katnook Estate Riesling has a track record of cellaring for 8-12 years, developing wonderful toasty, lime characters. It is equally enjoyable as a younger wine.

Vintage :: 2012 was an early vintage at the Katnook winery, commencing at the beginning of February. The warmer than normal growing season from October to April helped lead to the earlier ripening and ideal flavour development, which was aided by very little rain and no disease pressure during harvest.

Cellaring Potential :: Our Katnook Estate Riesling wine will age gracefully for many years.

Food Matching :: Riesling is delightful as an aperitif but will also beautifully accompany a fresh seafood platter or lightly pan-fried whiting served with a crisp green salad and chat potatoes.

Due to this increase in temperature, ripening was accelerated and most varieties began harvest earlier than usual. The harvest of Riesling in mid March was a little earlier than expected. The grapes were in close to perfect condition and disease free, with near optimum ripeness and maturities.
