The catalogue includes data on 25 Palaearctic species of Cerambycidae coleopterans of the subfamilies Prioninae (tribes Prionini and Aegosomatini) and Lepturinae (tribes Oxymirini, Xylosteini, Rhamnusiini and Rhagiini) preserved in the collections of „Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History. Key words: Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, catalogue, collections, „Grigore Antipa” Museum. In the entomological collections of „Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History from Bucharest there are preserved 25 Palaearctic species of Cerambycidae coleopterans of the subfamilies Prioninae (tribes Prionini and Aegosomatini) and Lepturinae (tribes Oxymirini, Xylosteini, Rhamnusiini and Rhagiini). The collection includes: – Materials from the old coleopteran collection from the Palaearctic region (which gathers specimens aquired between 1883 – 1950 from Canisius, Kenderessy, Fleck, Deubel, Montandon, Várady collections) (8%) – Material from Dr. Nicolae Sãvulescu’s collection, aquired between 1961– 1982 (29%) – Materials, from the same collection, included in the „Grigore Antipa” Museum patrimony in 1992, after Dr. Nicolae Sãvulescu’s death (cca 12%) – The specimens received by material exchanges with the specialists and collectors from abroad (1%) – Materials collected by the specialists of the „Grigore Antipa” Museum and their collaboratories during the field trips, between 1945–2004 (50%). A large part of the information given by the specimens from collections were materialized by scientifical papers. The first data on the materials from the personal collections, which are now included in the Museum patrimony, were published in Montandon’s (1884, 1906) and Fleck’s papers (1905). English translation by Mihaela Barcan Achim. 104 RODICA SERAFIM Panin and Sãvulescu (1961) used the little material collected till 1960 to publish the Cerambycidae volume in the “Romanian Fauna” series. The collections of Cerambycidae obviously increased after this date. The first step of the collection increasing was the aquiring of a part of Dr. Nicolae Sãvulescu’s collection, a part where most of the material was described in the fascicle of fauna. Gradually, in 1978, 1979 and 1982, other three parts were aquired, whose most of the data were not published since now. The collections developed a lot after 1962 due to the material collected all around Romania during different field trips made by the scientists of the Department of Entomology and their collaboratories. Among the researched areas we can mention the Danube Delta, Dobrogea, Vrancea County, the Romanian Plain, Satu Mare County, Maramureº County, Banat, Piatra Craiului Mountains, Fãgãraº Mountains, etc. A part of the data given by the material of the collections were published by Negru & Roºca (1967), Serafim (1985, 1993, 1997 a, b, 1998, 1999, 2004), Serafim & Maican (2003, 2004). After Dr. Nicolae Sãvulescu’s death, in 1992, his collection (unsold) was given to the Museum. For the time being, the material is studied (a part of its data is presented in this catalogue). The catalog presents 25 Palaearctic species of Cerambycidae, of the subfamily Prioninae (tribes Prionini and Aegosomatini) and of the subfamily Lepturinae (tribes Oxymirini, Xylosteini, Rhamnusiini and Rhagiini), represented by 1,941 specimens. Most of the material originates in Romania. Also, in the collection there is a material from France (Megopis scabricorne, Rhagium bifasciatum, Rh. sycophanta, Rh. inquisitor, Pidonia lurida), Italy (Rhamnusium bicolor), Czechia and Poland (Akimerus schaefferi, Brachyta interrogationis), Russia (Carilia virginea), Hungary (Dinoptera collaris). The species belonging to the Romanian fauna, from the tribes mentioned in the paper, are present in the Museum collections. An exception is the species Acmaeops septentrionis, whose presence in the Romanian fauna has to be confirmed. Microarthron komarowi and Rhagium fasciculatus are represented only by a foreign material. The nomenclature and the systematical displaying are according to Danilevsky’s paper (2004) – „Systematic list of longicorn beetles (Cerambycoidea) of Europe”. Silva Gabreta vol. 13 (2) p. 117–120 Vimperk, 2007 Výsledky orientačního průzkumu tesaříků (Coleoptera; Cerambycidae) vybraných lokalit NP Šumava Results of preliminary survey on long-horned beetles (Coleoptera; Cerambycidae) of the selected localities in the Šumava National Park Petr Doležal Biologické Centrum AVČR, v.v.i., Entomologický ústav, Branišovská 31, CZ-37005 České Budějovice [email protected] Abstract Thirty species of long-horned beetles (Cerambycidae) were recorded during a ten-year special research on bark beetle bionomy and ecophysiology in the Šumava National Park. Two species, Pachyta lamed (Linnae- us, 1758) and Monochamus sartor (Fabricius, 1787), are considered very rare. Acanthocinus griseus (Fab- ricius, 1792) was not previously recorded in this area. All specimens were collected (or their occurrence visually recorded) as adults on the trunks of logged trees or on flowering plants. The abundance and distri- bution of selected species is briefly discussed. Key words: entomological research, faunistics, long-horned beetles.

  • Wildfire Yields a Distinct Turnover of the Beetle Community in a Semi-Natural
Fredriksson et al. Ecological Processes (2020) 9:44 https://doi.org/10.1186/s13717-020-00246-5 RESEARCH Open Access Wildfire yields a distinct turnover of the beetle community in a semi-natural pine forest in northern Sweden Emelie Fredriksson1* , Roger Mugerwa Pettersson1, Jörgen Naalisvaara2 and Therese Löfroth1 Abstract Background: Fires have been an important natural disturbance and pervasive evolutionary force in the boreal biome. Yet, fire suppression has made forest fires rare in the managed landscapes in Fennoscandia, causing significant habitat loss for saproxylic species such as polypores and insects. To better understand how the beetle community changes (species turnover) after a wildfire in a landscape with intense fire suppression, we monitored beetles with flight intercept traps the first 3 years as well as 12 years after a large wildfire in a national park in northern Sweden (a control/unburnt area was set up for the last year of sampling). Results: Species composition changed significantly among all studied years with a continuous turnover of species following the wildfire. The indicator species analysis showed that year 1 post-fire was mostly associated with cambium consumers and also the pyrophilous species Batrisodes hubenthali. Year 2 was the most abundant and species-rich year, with Tomicus piniperda as the most important indicator species. The indicator species year 3 were mostly secondary successional species, fungivores, and predators and were characterized by lower species diversity. Year 12 had higher diversity compared with year 3 but lower species richness and abundance. A control area was established during year 12 post-fire, and our analyses showed that the control area and burned area differed in species composition suggesting that the beetle community needs longer than 12 years to recover even after a low- intensive ground fire.

  • A Comparison of Three Trapping Methods Used to Survey Forest-Dwelling Coleoptera
Eur. J. Entomol. 103: 397–407, 2006 ISSN 1210-5759 A comparison of three trapping methods used to survey forest-dwelling Coleoptera ESKO HYVÄRINEN, JARI KOUKI and PETRI MARTIKAINEN Faculty of Forest Sciences, University of Joensuu, P.O. Box 111, FIN – 80101 Joensuu, Finland; e-mail: [email protected] Keywords. Abundance distribution, beetles, biodiversity inventories, boreal forest, Coleoptera, interception traps, pitfall traps, sampling, species richness, window traps Abstract. Sampling of insect communities is very challenging and for reliable interpretation of results the effects of different sam- pling protocols and data processing on the results need to be fully understood. We compared three different commonly used methods for sampling forest beetles, freely hanging flight-intercept (window) traps (FWT), flight-intercept traps attached to trunks (TWT) and pitfall traps placed in the ground (PFT), in Scots pine dominated boreal forests in eastern Finland. Using altogether 960 traps, forming 576 sub-samples, at 24 study sites, 59760 beetles belonging to 814 species were collected over a period of a month. All of the material was identified to species, with the exception of a few species pairs, to obtain representative data for analyses. Four partly overlapping groups were used in the analyses: (1) all, (2) saproxylic, (3) rare and (4) red-listed species. In terms of the number of species collected TWTs were the most effective for all species groups and the rarer species the species group composed of (groups 1-2-3-4) the larger were the differences between the trap types. In particular, the TWTs caught most red-listed species. However, when sample sizes were standardized FWTs and TWTs caught similar number of species of all species groups.

(Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), based on the thorough review of the available literature, as well as original data collected in Poland during 1999-2010. All distributional data in natural range of species are given. The occurrence in seven polish zoogeographic units, from which the species has not been earlier noted, i.e.: Pomeranian Lake District, Mazurian Lake District, Podlasie Region, Lower Silesia, Upper Silesia, Cracow- Wieluń Upland and Western Sudeten is supplemented as well. Laboratory breeding of the immature stages of A. septentrionis have been also conducted for many years. This allowed to complement the knowledge on species ecology and behaviour. New parasitoid of A. septentrionis: Rhimphoctona melanura (Holm.) (Ichneumonidae: Campopleginae) was found. To ease the identification, a key to all European Acmaeops species is given. KEY WORDS : Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Acmaeops septentrionis, distribution, biology Wstęp W Polsce rodzaj Acmaeops LeConte reprezentowany jest przez cztery gatunki: A. septentrionis (Thomson, 1866), A.
