At this pont it looks like we are not going to have both a President and a vice president this next year. This has NEVER happened in the history of this club. There is a core group of 10-15 members that have kept the Board of Directors full and working. Many have flled one, multiple or ALL positions throughout the past years. But they are tired and geting older. We need some of the other members to step up!! I checked the bylaws and there is NOTHING about what to do if we do not have a full slate of ofcers. Does this mean the end to our club? PLEASE someone contact the Treasurer, Mike Farris (david,[email protected]) or the Secretary, Murray Welsh ([email protected]) if you will help us with either position. Thank you, The Potomac Chapter SDC Nomination Commitee October Because of all the pictures the entire newsleter could not be sent via email pages 5, 6, 7 can be viewed on the chapter web site. The fre extinguisher must be UL listed or equivalent and fully charged. The minimum for all vehicles is a UL type 1-A:5-B:C. For fre extinguishers without a gauge; insure that the nozzle is not obstructed and the safety seal is intact. The extinguisher need not be permanently mounted, but must be clearly visible and readily available. When the car is on display, the fre extinguisher should be on the ground near the left front wheel. For Drive-through judging, the fre extinguisher may be on the front seat or foor, but readily visible and available. This motion takes efect on January 1, 2017” The A:B:C fre extinguishers can be found at all the major retailers for home repair and improve- ments. Remember; 1-A:5-B:C is the minimum. Recommended would be 1-A:10B:C as they seem to be more readily available. Total cost for this larger size is in the $20 range and is very close to the size of a roll of paper towels. We highly recommend that these extinguishers be placed on the ground near the left front wheel of your vehicle when it is on the show feld. When moving your vehicle for judging, you may place it in a highly visible place inside your vehicle as proof that it is ready to use at a moment’s notice. This action is brought about due to a couple fres at car shows and the motion is based upon oth- er major collector car clubs rules and regulations. The chances of YOUR vehicle erupting in fames in minimal; but what if the car next to yours has the problem? By having your extinguish- er readily available you could prevent a possible disaster.
