As you know we need raffle items for the event. With the added people from the Arizonian Pacific Zone Meet there is a need to have as many items for the raffle tables as possible. Of course, there will be the food table with all of the familiar items. Take a check at all of the items you have saved for a white elephant gift to see what you can donate for the raffle table. I am believing there a need for as many raffle items as we can locate with the combination of the La Palma Car Show & Southwest Pacific Zone Meet. Volume 19 February 2021 P. 7 Fun stories for the month of March https://academictips.org/blogs/funny-short-stories/ The Child and his mother: A curios child asked his mother: “Mommy, why ae some of your hairs turning grey? The mother tried to use this occasion to teach her child: “It is because of you, dear. Every bad action of yours will turn one of my hairs grey!” The child replied innocently: “now I know why grandmother has only grey hairs on her heard.: Clever Kids: A police officer found a perfect hiding place for watching for speeding motorists. One day, the officer was amazed when everyone was under the speed limit, so he investigated and found the problem. A 10 year old boy was standing on the side of the road with a huge hand panted sign which said “Radar Trap Ahead,” A little more investigative work led the officer to the boy’s accomplice: another boy about 100 yards beyond the radar trap with a sign reading “Tips” and a bucket at his feet full of change. Volume 20 March 2021 P 9 HEMMINGS FEATURE Captains of Cool - Studebaker Why outwardly stable people just go crazy over Studebakers By Jim Donnelly from November 2013 issue of Hemmings Classic Car https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/captains-of-cool-studebaker In This Article It's a wild thing to watch, really. You figure that South Bend, Indiana, is a personification of middle-American stability and conservatism. The cars that were produced there, by a company whose roots were in hewing wagons for the pioneers, reflect those values. Dignified, reliable, elegant, but never out of line or improper. And yet, hundreds upon hundreds of Studebaker fanatics are flatly in love with them. 1937 Studebaker Dictator This is what you take away from any gathering of Studebaker owners, even if they're just sitting around somebody's living room or deck: unforced, innocent affection, the kind of emotional purity that welds a lifelong bond among people who love the products of this proud, fallen independent.

Oh how I’d love to participate in face- to-face meetings and see the friends I’ve made over the past seven years as a member of the Chap- ter. Irene and I have always felt so welcome at our events and enjoyed the camaraderie of the mem- bers. The pandemic has made it impossible for us to get together unless we stay in our cars and are six feet away from one another while wearing masks. There were two times when we were able to see each other but I only made it to the one at Seneca Creek Park. It was fun and sparsely attended as we expected. Nevertheless it was fun. As you know from previous “Commanders” I didn’t make it to the tour out in western Virginia but enough members did to make it a success under the pandemic conditions.

The caravan lined up and pulled out exactly at 9:15 as sched- uled heading north on US 15, a friendly and scenic drive. After crossing in to Pennsylvania, at York Springs the car- avan headed off toward Carlisle following Route 94. Those who had not been on that route were very im- pressed by the beauty of the Adams County orchard lands, all in all a very scenic route. At Carlisle the caravan joined Interstate 81 and headed east. Af- ter a few wild lane changes enroute in the Harrisburg vicinity caravaners exited 81 north of Hershey and headed down Route 39 toward Hershey. With a number of traffic lights and heavy traffic be- tween 81 and Hershey some intrepid travelers got widely separated, but not to worry. Ruth Carr’s excellent directions got all to the first stop, Hershey Gardens with no problems. Hershey Gardens is beautifully located on a hill top overlooking the town and Hershey Park. All enjoyed the beauty of the Gardens with wide, very accessible paths and very unusual plants, imagi- native sculptures and more. All in all Hershey Gardens is a very worthwhile destination in itself. Keeping right on the carefully timed schedule, the caravan left for lunch at a Panera Bread restaurant nearby.

  • Introduction to R&C Database Compilation & Index
Introduction to R&C Database Compilation & Index I have a long history and fondness for Rod & Custom magazine. This is the first magazine I purchased at age 10, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I often refer back to my collection, but find it hard to quickly lay my hands on a given article. This is for fellow HAMB members who share a love for this little magazine. This Index covers Rod & Custom Magazine from May 1953 through May 1974. I stopped at 1974 since R&C went out of print then. R&C was restarted in December 1988 and lasted until October 2014. This index is created for general reference, technical reference, research, tracing automobile histories, and genealogy. I have attempted to use a consistent categorization or article grouping scheme across all 20+ years, even though editors or previous compilations may not have used this convention. This index contains the following specific information: Title of each article along with a descriptive supplement such as club affiliation, noted customizers, past owners, professions, etc. The author’s and/or photographer’s name where space allowed. Featured vehicle year, make, model, & engine and/or engine displacement where available or where space allowed. Vehicle owner name, city and state. Where the country is other than the United States, I listed the country Product manufacturer name, city and state. Address may be included if space allowed. The month and page number of each feature article or photograph. The index is sorted by year, and a title at the top of each page indicates which year.
