1. General information about the campus

UP Manila is recognized today as the country’s premier institution for the health sciences and the leader in health human resource, education, training and research. It occupies an area of 14 hectares of prime land, comprising approximately two blocks in Manila’s District. It is bounded on the north by the ; on the east by ; on the south by Street; and by Maria Orosa Street on the West. UP Manila has nine (9) degree granting units: College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP), College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Dentistry (CD), College of Medicine (CM), College of Nursing (CN), College of Pharmacy (CP), College of Public Health (CPH), National Teacher Training Center for the Health Professions (NTTC-HP), and the School of Health Sciences (SHS). These degree-granting units continuously provide the highest quality of advanced instruction, professional training, basic and applied research and community service. For the AY 2018-2019, the university had an average enrolment of 3,600 for the undergraduate programs and 1,200 for the graduate programs. On the average, UP Manila admits 850 first year UPCAT qualifiers distributed among the different undergraduate programs. To reach UP Manila, the easiest means of transportation is via the Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT You may choose to get off at the UN station or Pedro Gil station. 2. General Enrollment Process

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO ENROLL IN UP MANILA:

PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY TO AVOID DELAY IN THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PAPERS (Incomplete documents will not be processed)

Enrollment includes payment of tuition and other fees. It involves the following steps: Step 1. Processing of medical certificate at UP-PGH Health Service; Step 2. Submission of entrance credentials at the Office of the University Registrar (OUR); Step 3. Enrollment of subjects, PE and NSTP, at the OUR; Step 4. Reassessment of tuition and other fees Step 5. Payment of tuition and other fees at the Cashier's office; Step 6. ID picture taking at the OUR;

Step 1. Processing of medical certificate at UP-PGH Health Service a. Have your Chest x-ray taken at any government or private hospital/clinic (get x-ray/ plate). b. On the scheduled date, have your Dental exam done at the College of Dentistry, corner Pedro Gil and Taft Avenue (scheduled in the morning only). If done by a private clinic, bring the dental certificate and dental chart. c. Proceed to UP-PGH Health Service, Ground Floor. Bring x-ray plate & dental results for your physical exam (afternoon of the same day). See Table 1 for the schedule.

Starting AY 2017-2018, no fees are collected from the students (CHED Free Tuition).

3. Student Housing and Food Services

At present, UP Manila has no dormitory to accommodate the students. However, they may find places of residence outside the university premises. Space rental of nearby private dormitories and apartments range from Php3,000.00 to Php5,500.00. Several condominiums are located near UP Manila but the cost/rent is higher.

A list of accommodation with contact numbers may be secured from the Office of Student Affairs.

Presently, only the College of Arts and Sciences has a place for food service. This is located at their Student Center.

4. Student Financial Assistance

All incoming Filipino first year students are eligible to the Republic Act 10931, known as the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act of 2017. No fees will be collected for their enrolment.

6. Safety and Security

The Philippine General Hospital Health Service takes care of the students health. All students are required to undergo an annual physical examinations as a requirement for their enrolment.

For the safety and security of the students and staff, the UP Manila Police and the contracted Security Personnel/Guards are working together for a peaceful University.

It is a policy of the University that joining fraternities or sororities is prohibited for incoming first year students or freshies.
