R, Walde, R. S. Watts, A. L. Whiter4C-T-H4--TATeeei- OTHERS PRESENT: N.W. Litchfield, R. Ruhling, A. L. Tucker, Don Yost, and D. M. Barnett from Taiwan. M. V. Campbell, Chairman, read statements on Faith and Courage as found in Testimonies, Volume VII, pages 211 and 212: "If we lack faith where we are when difficulties present themselves we would lack faith in any place. Our greatest need is faith in God. When we look on the dark side we lose our hold on the Lord God of Israel. As the heart is opened to fears and conjectures, the path of progress is hedged up by unbelief. Let us never feel that God has forsaken His work. ... As you cultivate faith and place yourselves in right relation to Cod and by earnest prayer brace yourselves to do your duty you will be worked by the Holy Spirit. The many problems that are now mysterious you may solve for your- selves by continued trust in God. You need not be painfully indefinite because you are living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. You may walk and work in confidence. We must have less faith in what we can do and more faith in what the Lord can do for us, if we will have clean hands and pure hearts. You are not en- gaged in your own work; you are doing the work of God." Prayer was offered by R. R. Figuhr. MINUTES of the meeting held June 9, 1960 were approved. JOSEPH R. V. Olson, C. L, Torrey, R. S. Watts OTHERS PRESENT: Harry House, R. Ruhling The Chairman, W, E. Murray, spoke of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Son of Man. One of His characteristics as the Son of God was that He was obedient to God. We are told that He was obedient even unto the death on the cross. Elder Murray read from the seventeenth chapter of John, verses 1-7, the prayer of Jesus, in which He tells His Father that He has glorified Him on the earth, and finished the work given Him to do. There is a reference to His love of home, a characteristic of sonship. He wished for the glory He had when He was with the Father. It gives us an insight into the Sonship of Jesus Christ.
