Directions 1. Cut lining and canvas to 8 inches by 9 inches. Mark lines lengthwise of the fabric every 2 inches. On the back side of the fabric, mark 3 inches in from each lengthwise edge. Cut vinyl 8 inches by 3.5 inches.

2. Thread the needle with Kreinik Cord and the bobbin with cotton thread. Cut a 20-inch piece of Kreinik 1/8” Ribbon. Fray one end of the ribbon, select one of the center threads and pull gently. This will the ribbon from side to side like ric rack. Gather until the ribbon is just slightly longer than the line on the fabric. the ribbon on top of the middle line and stitch in place with a . When sewing, you may want to hold the gathers in place with a pin or stiletto.

3. Pin Kreinik 1/16” Ribbon so that it covers either remaining line (as marked in step 1). the end of the ribbon with a straight stitch, then couch in place with a zig zag stitch (1.8 wide, 1.8 length) which swings over the ribbon. Remember to use your practice piece to fine tune the width of the zig zag; be careful not to pull on the ribbon or it will become narrower. If the bobbin thread shows on the top of the fabric, loosen the top tension. Use the same technique to cover the other visible line. 4. Hand-wind a bobbin with Kreinik Heavy (#32) Braid. Refer to your instruction manual for bypassing the bobbin tension. Tighten the top tension and lengthen the straight stitch length (4.4). With the back of the fabric up, stitch along both marked lines (referring to ‘back’ diagram in step 1).

5. Wind the bobbin with Kreinik Medium (#16) Braid, do not bypass the bobbin tension. From the back zig zag (5.0 wide, 5.0 length) about 3.5 inches from the lengthwise edge. Use the bobbin threads of the previous stitching for your guides.

6. Thread needle with Kreinik Very Fine Braid, cotton in the bobbin. From the right side of the fabric, zig zag (5.0 wide, 5.0 length) 2.5 inches from each lengthwise edge.

7. Place the vinyl one inch from one of the shorter edges of the canvas. Straight stitch in place along the side which is 4.5 inches from the edge. The sides will be caught in seams later.

8. Thread needle and bobbin with cotton thread, use a zipper foot. Right sides together, center zipper along one of the shorter edges of the canvas. Pin in place. Pin lining right sides together with canvas. Stitch a narrow . Slide the free edge of the zipper along the canvas to the other short edge, repeat the process. When it is in the correct position, the lining will hang on one side of the zipper and the canvas on the other.

9. Unzip the zipper. With right sides still together, press the zipper towards the lining. With right sides together, match the seam between the canvas and the lining. Sew one side seam together with a half-inch . Sew the other side leaving a turning hole in the lining. Turn right side out and stitch opening in the seam. Tuck lining into pouch.

10. Cut 3-yard pieces of the following threads: 2 of Heavy Braid, 3 of Medium Braid, 3 of 1/8” Ribbon. Secure one end with an overhand knot. some of the threads through the hole of an empty bobbin. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder of the sewing machine and run until the threads are tightly twisted. Hold the twisted thread in the center and bring the ends together; let go of the center and allow the thread to twist back on itself. Several inches from each end, tie an overhand knot. Clip the ends of the thread and fray to make a tassel at each end of the cording. Stitch the cording to the pouch by hand. (To make the cording, you can also use the Kreinik Custom Corder™ )
