Find the center of the base fabric, mark with marking pen 4. Use the 360x200, hoop the cut a way stabilizer and lay the fabric on top of the hooped stabilizer. 5. Center the fabric using the brail markings on the side of the hoop. 6. Toggle to embroidery 7. Select file manager 8. Select my Designs 9. Choose the sparrow ( Directions to create the embroidery design are on the last page of the directions) 10. Touch ok 11. Select the 360x200 hoop 12. Touch Go 13. Thread your machine with the contrasting color thread using two spools of thread for the twin needles 23. Insert your twin needle and attach the open toe foot. 24. Go to the Diamond Menu. 25. Select the SET MENU 26. Under Sewing Settings, select the Twin needle 2.0 27. Touch OK, then OK again. 28. Select the Stitch Menu 29. Choose E2:34 © 2014 KSIN Luxembourg ll, S.ar.l. Start at the top of line 2 (the one inch line) and sew down vertically to the bottom of the fabric through the stabilizer. 31. Repeat on the other vertical side. 32. Repeat this stitch with the twin needle on the bottom and outside horizontal lines. (the 2” line) 33. You will have sewn this twin needle design 4 times, two vertically and 2 horizontally 34. Remove the twin needle and the open toe foot. 35. Return to the Diamond Menu 36. Select the SET MENU and deselect the twin needle setting. 37. Thread the machine with one spool of the contrast thread. 38. Thread 2 strands of the YLI pearl crown thread in the 2 back outside holes. (The row that has the 3 holes) into the 7 hole cording foot. 39. Select the stitch menu , choose D1:3 40. Attach your 7 hole cording foot and make sure that you hold the 2 strands of pearl crown thread straight. 41. Starting on the top of row 4, (the three inch vertical line) stitch down to the end of fabric. 42. Repeat on the other vertical side. 43. Rethread with the machine with thread that matches the yarn. 46. Use the threader and thread the yarn into the foot. 47. Attach the yarn foot 48. Select the file manager 49. Touch the My Files and select the zig zag stitch 50. Change the stitch length from 32 to 25 51. Center the needle on the vertical line 3, the two inch mark. 52. Stitch down the line to the end of the fabric. Cut the yarn and bobbin thread 53. Repeat on the other side. 54. Return to the file manager 55. Touch My Files and select the straight stitch 56. Start at the top of the vertical line 5, the 3 ½” line and sew down to the end of the fabric. 57. Cut the yarn and the bobbin thread. 58. Repeat on the other vertical side. 59. The last stitching lines are the two vertical lines ( the ½” line) closest to the basting line. This line should cover the raw edges of the horizontal lines that have previously been finished. 62. Press and trim. 63. The final size should be 20 ¾” x12 ½” Creating the border 1. Sew two of the 2 ½” square to the large 4 ½” square matching the corners. 2. Draw a line diagonally and sew on that line corner to corner. 3. Trim seams to ¼” 4. Press one seam to the light side and one to the dark. 5. Sew the set of three to each side and sew the sets of 7 to the top and bottom 8. Lay a piece of batting of top of the wrong side of the backing. 9. Place the right sides of the backing and the top together and sew around all sides, leaving an opening to turn right sides out. Once turned right sides out, press. (Optional: Stitch in the ditch between the border and the top.) Lettering The lettering was created in 6-D software under the letter tab. Scroll down to the traditional and Line Block 30. Type in three rows, Song, of a, Sparrow (If you have more time for the stitch out, one of the fonts on the machine could be used, they would be a thicker look) Left justify the words. Rotate Bring in the bird from the vintage postcard design card. Rotate Place the words and the bird together until the final size is 130.9x 290.5.
