Glandore Phone: 8297 7296 SACA chose this path after an independent review of Premier (then Bone Timber Reserve Grade) Cricket recommended fewer clubs in the competition. Park 23 West Terrace Adelaide Over the past 6 months Cricket Australia and SACA have conducted Phone: 8410 5016 Audits and reviews of all 13 Premier Clubs. A Grade Premierships 1905/06 1998/99 The Adelaide Cricket Club believes this review was fair and impartial 1914/15 2003/04 and we also believe that SACA made its decision recommending a 1937/38 merger based on all the information presented to it by the Clubs and 1958/59 1974/75 its own research. West End Cup Premierships 1995/96 It seems strange that now a person not involved in the review process calls for a Parliamentary Enquiry into the proposed merger. The Adelaide Cricket Club believes that SACA has conducted the review appropriately and arrived at its decision impartially. We suggest that it is in the best interests of Premier Cricket that all Clubs and their members support SACA in this matter and we urge you to write to your local member by 13th May 2016 confirming this support and No to a Parliamentary Enquiry. PP 268 AN INQUIRY INTO MOTOR VEHICLE INSURANCE AND REPAIR INDUSTRY IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA Eighth Report of the ECONOMIC AND FINANCE COMMITTEE Tabled in the House of Assembly and ordered to be published on Thursday 24 September Second Session, Fifty-Fourth Parliament PRESIDING MEMBER'S FOREWORD The motor vehicle repair industry is a significant economic contributor, both in South Australia and nationally, generating over $7.2 billion in revenue nationally each year from over 111000 businesses that employ more than 37,000 people. In South Australia, almost 5,000 businesses in the automotive retail, service and repair sectors contribute $2.85 billion annually to the economy, employing over 29,000 people, including 500 apprentices, with another 900 apprentices in training. In recent decades the crash repair industry has undergone a rationalisation process at both the national and local level, but there are still hundreds of crash repairers located across the State, providing the important service of getting motor vehicles back on the road in a manner that ensures the continued safety of all South Australian road users. There was a substantial amount of interest in this Inquiry across the crash repair and motor vehicle insurance sectors. The Committee received 53 written submissions and heard from 35 witnesses across seven public hearings and two in camera hearings, held between October 2019 and July 2020. The public galleries at the hearings held in late 2019 were consistently full of interested observers, highlighting the significant importance this Inquiry held for the South Australian crash repair industry. During the Inquiry, the Committee heard from many crash repairers and consumers about the issues they had encountered while trying to get vehicles repaired as part of an insurance claim.

I have supported legislation for assisted dying when it has been before this house previously. I do so again, not because I would avail myself of such laws but because I do not believe that I can deny other South Australians the right to make that choice. In providing this legal option at the end of a person's life, this bill establishes a range of mandatory protections, approvals and reviews to prevent exploitation. I have every respect for those who do not support voluntary assisted dying. I understand their views and their concerns. I have considered the deep and sensitive moral, ethical, legal, medical and professional considerations associated with this question, but it is also important to recognise that with the passage of these laws we will not be entering on the so-called slippery slope.

Labor bid to release secret documents over $2.57m Henry Keogh payout The extraordinary release of confidential documents about murder suspect Henry Keogh’s $2.57m taxpayer-funded payout is being urged by Labor as part of a bid to wound the Liberal minority government. In a ploy to leverage the newly empowered crossbenchers, Labor government accountability spokesman Tom Koutsantonis has notified parliament of a move to release four sets of documents, including Cabinet-in-confidence material. Covering topics calculated to appeal to the crossbenchers, the documents involve the Keogh payout, Brighton Rd,/Hove grade separation, rail outsourcing and Waite Gatehouse demolition. Mr Koutsantonis is trying to convince the five crossbenchers, including three former Liberals, to back the four motions and test parliament’s powers to force the documents’ release. Narungga MP Fraser Ellis, whose crossbench defection in February plunged the Liberals into minority, declared he would consider all motions put to parliament if they benefited his constituents. Other crossbenchers said the gatehouse issue would be discussed but stressed they wanted to co-operate with the government rather than be obstructionist. Mr Koutsantonis said he did not believe the public service advised Attorney-General Vickie Chapman to issue the $2.57m payout in 2018 to mitigate financial risk to the state from Mr Keogh’s wrongful murder conviction. Mr Keogh, who was released from prison in 2014 following an appeal, remains the sole suspect in the 1994 death of his then-fiancee, Anna- Jane Cheney. When prosecutors opted not to try him a third time, the State Government awarded him the $2.57 million taxpayer-funded payout for his 21 years in prison.
