Mounting instruction ABT AEC for MLB Audi Q8 TFSI Vehicles: Audi Q8 3,0 TFSI Installation time: approx. 90 minutes

Important: To ensure optimum function and safety of the ABT AEC, read the Installation Manual carefully before installation and carry out the installation in compliance with the Installation Manual.

Important measures before installing the ABT AEC: Before you start installing the AEC, read out the vehicle error memory in which the AEC is to be fitted. If there is an error entry: · Rectify errors in compliance with the manufacturer’s repair instructions. · After repair, it is imperative to carry out another test drive lasting at least 30 km. The ABT AEC may only be fitted to vehicles which are error-free at the time of installation.

2 Power consumption information

The use of a performance upgrade by installing the AEC raises the vehicle power consumption. Additional power flows. In addition, the total power is dependent on the vehicle model, optional extras, or similar. In individual cases, the power consumption may be significantly higher. Total power consumption determines the length of time the vehicle stays ready to start without recharging the battery. In addition, this time is dependent on battery age, battery charge level, and outdoor temperature. In general, we recommend charging the battery at fixed intervals on all vehicles that are used at irregular intervals. This prolongs the battery's service life.

If the vehicle remains idle for longer than one week, we recommend replacing the AEC with a bridge adapter. This eliminates additional power consumption. The vehicle stays in running order when the adapter is fitted, which corresponds to the standard production status. The bridge adapter can be purchased separately. We also recommend you use a bridge adapter to travel abroad in regions where fuel quality is poor.

4 Preparations on the vehicle

Remove air filter box with the aluminum strut.

Overview of all Sensors and Power Supply. Attach the AEC wiring harness to the standard cable guide with cable ties.

Remove the standard control unit from the bracket. Carefully unplug the standard connector from the slot (arrow). Disconnect, then connect the connector marked “Schaltplus” to the standard socket and connect the socket to the standard connector.

Secure the additional connection with a cable tie. Position the standard connector outwards and secure.

2 - Boost Pressure Sensor

Connect the connector marked “Ladedruck 1” to the standard socket and connect the socket to the standard connector. Secure the additional connection with a cable tie.

Note: Remove the boost pressure hose in order to attach the sensor.

3 - Camshaft

Connect the connector marked “Nockenwelle” to the standard socket and connect the socket to the standard connector. Secure the additional connection with a cable tie.

4 - Inlet Manifold Pressure Sensor

Connect the connector marked “Saugrohr 1” to the standard socket and connect the socket to the standard connector. Secure the additional connection with a cable tie.

5 - Cooling Water Temperature

Connect the connector marked “Kühlmitteltemperatur” to the standard socket and connect the socket to the standard connector. Secure the additional connection with a cable tie.

6 - Supply

Connect and secure both AEC wiring harness eyelets from steady plus”Schaltplus” and ground connection to the marked contacts. Feed the plus cable with fuse inside and secure to the Battery pole.

5 Mounting the AEC

Secure the AEC to the AEC bracket with the retaining clip, pan-head screw and washer. Attach the 60-pin dummy connector to the AEC. Connect the 91-pin connector from the AEC wiring harness to the AEC. Attach the AEC bracket to the standard control unit with the 4 screws..

6 Completion

Read out the error memory and clear, if required. Start the vehicle and take it for a test drive. Affix the “ABT Power” sticker to the engine cover and the “ABT Information” sticker to the hood lock support. Gasoline engines only: Affix the "98 RON Super Plus" sticker to the fuel filler flap. Note: The AEC can stay fitted when a workshop carries out control unit updates. The AEC does not interfere with communication with the tester.

If the “MIL”, “EPC”, or “Preheat” lamps flash on the instrument panel unit, there is an error in the ABT AEC. In this case, please contact ABT Sportsline GmbH.
