(Deb) – Katie Leclerc Currently Stars As Daphne Vasquez on The ‘CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF LOVE’ CAST BIOS KATIE LECLERC (Deb) – Katie Leclerc currently stars as Daphne Vasquez on the hit ABC family series “Switched At Birth.” In its third season, “Switched At Birth,” and Leclerc specifically, continue to drive a strong fan following and are respected and are applauded worldwide for their positive portrayal of deaf characters on television. Leclerc has been nominated for two Teen Choice Awards for her outstanding performance on the show. The first was in 2011 in the category of “Choice TV Break Out Star” and then again in 2013 in the category of “Summer TV Star.” Originally from Lakewood, Colorado and the youngest of three siblings, Leclerc got the acting bug when she starred in a local production of “Annie.” When the family moved to San Diego, she continued to pursue her desire to perform and began appearing in national commercials for such brands as Pepsi, Cingular, Comcast and GE. Leclerc got her big break at the age of 19 in 2004 when she was asked to guest star on “Veronica Mars,” starring Kristen Bell. She went on to have guest and recurring roles on such series as MTV’s “The Hard Times of RJ Berger,” CBS’s “CSI” and “The X List.” However, it is for portraying Raj Koothrappali’s gold-digging girlfriend Emily on the hit CBS series “The Big Bang Theory,” that brings her the most additional recognition. In film, she has starred in the Hallmark Channel Original Movie “The Confession,” as well as the independent features “The Inner Circle” and “Flying By” with Billy Ray Cyrus. Leclerc will also guest star this year on an upcoming episode of “Community.” Leclerc has Meniere’s disease, a disorder of the inner ear that can cause hearing loss and effect balance to a varying degree. She is fluent in American Sign Language to cope with her intermittent hearing loss, and has triumphed turning this into a positive by recently becoming the spokesperson for the Purple campaign. She is also heavily involved in the “Be Good To Each Other” bullying prevention campaign by custom designing a t-shirt to raise money to provide awareness and support. Leclerc also speaks publicly to the media about her own personal experience with the issue. Katie Leclerc is an avid cook, and was excited to appear last year on “The Chew,” where she went head to head with Mario Batali. She loves to spend time with her dogs, and is also an active outdoorsman, hiking, running camping and mountain biking. ‘Nothing but the Truth’: Genre, Gender and Knowledge in the US Television Crime Drama 2005-2010 Hannah Ellison Submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) University of East Anglia School of Film, Television and Media Studies Submitted January 2014 ©This copy of the thesis has been supplied on condition that anyone who consults it is understood to recognise that its copyright rests with the author and that no quotation from the thesis, nor any information derived therefrom, may be published without the author's prior, written consent. 2 | Page Hannah Ellison Abstract Over the five year period 2005-2010 the crime drama became one of the most produced genres on American prime-time television and also one of the most routinely ignored academically. This particular cyclical genre influx was notable for the resurgence and reformulating of the amateur sleuth; this time remerging as the gifted police consultant, a figure capable of insights that the police could not manage. I term these new shows ‘consultant procedurals’. Consequently, the genre moved away from dealing with the ills of society and instead focused on the mystery of crime. Refocusing the genre gave rise to new issues. Questions are raised about how knowledge is gained and who has the right to it. With the individual consultant spearheading criminal investigation, without official standing, the genre is re-inflected with issues around legitimacy and power. The genre also reengages with age-old questions about the role gender plays in the performance of investigation. With the aim of answering these questions one of the jobs of this thesis is to find a way of analysing genre that accounts for both its larger cyclical, shifting nature and its simultaneously rigid construction of particular conventions.

The characters that were analyzed in two episodes were the young black women of Insecure and in two episodes the young white women in Girls. The method for this study was conducted using content analysis to identify the following variables focusing on identity, racial stereotypes and names used to address one another. Additionally, variables to identify gender included emotional approaches to situations, stereotypes and gender role expectations. • Magicians on the Paranormal: an Essay with a Review of Three Books
Magicians on the Paranormal: An Essay with a Review of Three Books GEORGE P. HANSEN’ ABSTRACT: Conjurors have written books on the paranormal since the 1500s. A number of these books are listed and briefly discussed herein, including those of both skeptics and proponents. Lists of magicians on both sides of the psi controversy are provided. Although many people perceive conjurors to be skeptics and debunkers, some of the most prominent magicians in history have endorsed the reality of psychic phenomena. The reader is warned that conjurors’ public statements asserting the reality of psi are sometimes difficult to eval- uate. Some mentalists publicly claim psychic abilities but privately admit that they do not believe in them; others privately acknowledge their own psychic experiences. Thme current books are fully reviewed: EntraSensory Deception by Henry Gordon (1987), Forbidden Knowledge by Bob Couttie (1988), and Secrets of the Supernatural by Joe Nickel1 (with Fischer, 1988). The books by Gordon and Couttie contain serious errors and are of little value, but the work by Nickel1 is a worthwhile contribution, though only partially concerned with psi. Magicians have been involved with paranormal controversies for cen- turies, and their participation has been far more complex and multifaceted than the usual stereotype of magicians as skeptical debunkers. In this paper, I review three fairly recent skeptical books by magicians, but before these are discussed, some remarks are in order concerning conjurors’ in- volvement with psi and psi research because there has been little useful discussion of the topic in the parapsychology literature.’ It is important to understand this background because several magicians have had an impact on scientists’ and the general public’s perception of psychical research, and some have played a major role in the modem-day skeptical movement (Hansen, 1992).

TRUMP AND HIS SURROGATES LOUDLY PEDDLED DEBUNKED RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY THEORIES TIED TO QANON AND WHITE SUPREMACISTS, GIVING THEM FALSE LEGITIMACY SUMMARY As Trump and his allies searched for justifications to claim electoral victory, the far-right online community played a pivotal role in originating claims for the campaign to push. Conspiracies from white supremacists, QAnon supporters, and long-time conspiracy theorists were elevated, disseminated, and pushed out by the president and his allies. There seems to be a direct flow from the furthest right reaches of the internet and the official spokespeople of the president —including the president himself — such as: • The president promoting numerical figures developed by “TheDonald.Win” — an online community founded to openly post hate speech and calls to violence — in an attempt to prove his false voter fraud claims. • Promoting “Stop The Steal” events planned by white supremacists, including one that led to a stabbing reportedly at the hands of white nationalists. • Lending credibility to the mysterious, propagandic twitter account “Election Wizard,” which promotes election conspiracy theories and follows noted white supremacists and QAnon accounts. • Using a QAnon promoted conspiracy to fire a top elections cybersecurity official.
