The Christmas show prize for the best lowland breed of 3 or more Ewes, was won by JJ Bowden, Outer Retallick for £70.50 and the prize for the best pen of Hill Bred Ewes was won by Paul and Arron Vanstone of Bratton Clovelly, for a pen of Cheviotts to £54.50. 341 Fat Lamb A lot more Lambs Weight Top Average on offer met a Per Head Per Kilo Per Head Per Kilo faster trade for all 32.1-39 71.20 187 70.20 184.7 on offer, several 39.1-45.5 80.20 184 76 178.2 pens of 182 to a top 45.6-52 90 184 84.60 175.2 of 187p for 2 pens 52+ 81.50 148.1 81.50 148.1 of 38 kgs £71.20 Overall 90 187 79.80 178.8 from Mrs Glenda Taper, Englewood, Looe. 7 pens of heavies over £84 to a top of £90 for the champion pen in the Xmas Show which was won by Eddie Cowling, Higher Crannow, St Gennys for a pen of Beltex x 49kgs. 606 Store Lambs Over 600 Store Lambs on offer again met a very fast trade. Many pens over £70 to a top of £73 sold by Terry Mitchell Bealbury Farm, St Mellion. The prize for the best pen of lowland bred Store Lambs was won by Miss M Goodenough, Davidstow and realised £72. The best pen of Hill Bred Lambs was awarded to Messrs A & S Rogers, Granite Steps, Advent and realised £66.50. STORE CATTLE AUCTIONEER RICHARD DENNIS A festive atmosphere at Hallworthy saw 250 Cattle through the ring. Mince pies and Mulled wine helped the festive feel with the annual Christmas Show and Sale. Results: Prime Cattle: Mr Eddie Cowling Store Heifers: Mr R T Crabb Store Steers: Mr R T Crabb Suckled Calf Steers: Mr P Harper Suckled Calf Heifers: Mr S M Hoskin A momentous occasion with Mr E Cowling of St Gennys selling his last 2 Cattle on the farm. Nigel a cracking Limousin Steer realising over £1500 at 201ppkilo. Store Cattle A good run of stores for the end of the year, top call went to a P Blewett & Partners of St Dennis, with an outstanding Limousin x Steer with great length and conformation to £1080. Local man Mr R T Crabb of Tresparett ran in next with a super pair of Limousin x Steers. Mr Blewett ran in again with a pen of Limousin x Steers to £940 and a pen of Hereford x Steers to £930. Younger Steers from Mr G Start of Gunnislake saw his Hereford x Steers to £845 and Aberdeen Angus x Steers to £840. Top pen and first prize for the Heifer section went the Mr R T Crabb again with a shapey pen of Blonde x to £910 with Mr Blewett seeing a pair of Limousin x Heifers to £800. Suckled Calves Around 80 Calves at the round up sale saw a solid trade with Mr TJ & SA Mitchell of St Mellion selling his pen of Simmental x Steers to £680. D M Hoskin of Liskeard saw his best bunch of Aberdeen Angus x Steers to £660 and Mr J Raymont of St Merryn also at £660 for a pen of young Simmental x Steers. P Harper saw his pen of 3 Limousin x Steers with tremendous shape to £570. The top pen of Heifers went to D M Hoskin, with a pen of Aberdeen Angus x Heifers to £530. In Calf Heifers 6 super Black Hereford x Heifers from J H Neale of Boyton, in calf to Pedigree Limousin Bull due March-April.
