Naylor, 20 , of Crandall D, was standing near a parked vehicle on the west side near a house at 1630 Rte 195, when he was hit by a vehicle operated by Melissa A. McEvily, 19, of Crawford D, at 12:37 am., police said Emergency workers from Mansfield Fire Department rushed Naylor to Windham Community Memorial Hospital where he was . pronounced dead at 2:47 am Friday. A supervising nurse from the hospital said Naylor died as a result of severe head injuries sustained from the accident Police said a two car accident was reported at 11:50 pm. Thursday at the location where Naylor was hit Naylor apparen- tly was looking at the back of one of the cars involved in the accident when he was hit they said. McEvify and a passenger were not injured in the accident but UConn police confirmed that she had come into police head- quarters to report an accident immediately after striking Naylor. State police said the incident is still under investigation and that no charges have been filed against McEvily. A Beautiful Day For A Walk For a change of pace (no pun intended), the 2014 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes© event was held a week later than previous years. In order to accommodate an event at the Cenotaph, we altered the walk route from once around Victoria Park to going north of the park, around the Richmond/Pall Mall/Wellington block and returning to Centennial Hall. This added a bit more wear and tear on the feet of London’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen but they still had fun and returned smiling. Even though the day started with some rain, by mid- morning the sun had appeared and it turned out to be a perfect day for a Walk. At least 100 walkers, and double that in well-wishers, took to the streets in the sunshine and warm temperatures to raise money for Women’s Community House and to show community solidarity to end violence against women. Upon return to Centennial Hall, everyone enjoyed complimentary refreshments and award presentations. This year’s Shoe-per-Hero award was presented to Al Murphy, the individual who raised the most money and the Shoe-be-do Trophy for the team that raised the most in pledges was awarded to Team Bluestone. At the time of writing this article, the total monies raised from the 2014 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes© was approximately $33,000 with further pledges expected to be received. Donations can still be made to the Walk by going to www.walkamilelondon.ca and clicking on the Donate Now button.

Ofcourse, the more styles you try to blend, the less probable success becomes and the greater the risk of producing something whose sum is smaller than each individual element. Rik Emmett, leader ofthe rock power trio Triumph and the author of Guitar Player's Back To Basics column, was fully aware ofthe artistic hazards involved when he proposed a Soundpage recording to Editor Tom Wheeler in late 1986 that would fuse rock, jazz, and classical. While such a project promised to be the most complex one of its nature since the Soundpage's debut in the Oct. '84 issue, after hearing Emmett's concept and who he had in mind to fill out his guitar quartet-Alex Lifeson, Liona Boyd, and Ed Bickert-thego-ahead was given. The resulting composition-Emmett's masterful "Beyond Borders" -succeeds in melding its various elements on a number oflevels. Although brilliant playing abounds, the piece is more than a vehicle for virtuosic displays as it integrates various styles and weaves in and out of different moods, textures, tones, rhythms, key centers, and time changes.
