Groups of 3 to 9 people get a third off with a GroupSave ticket on Off-Peak GWR trains. Buy from station ticket office (open May to mid-September) or on the train from the Conductor if the ticket office is closed.

RIDE

This one-day rover ticket allows travel on all GWR rail routes in Cornwall, plus Plymouth and the , and most bus services for just £13 (£9.75 child). Valid from 09 00 on weekdays and any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. A Family ticket is £26 (up to 2 adults and 3 children).

DEVON & CORNWALL RAILCARD

For just £11 per year, this card gives Devon and Cornwall residents a third off most Standard Off-Peak tickets for you and a friend when travelling in the two counties. Buy at Newquay station ticket office (open May to mid- September) or at other staffed stations (proof of residency and photo ID required).

Please buy your ticket from Newquay station ticket office (open May to mid-September). If the ticket office is closed, buy on the train from the Conductor (by cash or card).

For longer trips (e.g. Bristol, London), save money by buying your ticket up to 12 weeks in advance. Buy online, at Newquay station ticket office or at another staffed station.

Where’s the station?

Newquay station, Station Parade, Newquay, TR7 2NF The station car park is located next to the station and has 30 spaces. The station also has bicycle parking.

Top tips

DOGS WELCOME You can take up to two dogs on the train free of charge. You just need a lead.

BUGGIES ALLOWED Bring your pram or buggy. If possible fold it down once on the train. Under 5s go free.

CORNISH MINING HERITAGE WALK

Discover the Cornish Mining Heritage of the Luxulyan Valley. Take the train to Luxulyan, then use the directions and map in our downloadable leaflet to explore the area on foot - including taking in the amazing Treffry Viaduct.

The short version of the walk is 2.5 miles, with the option to extend it to 3.7 miles. In Luxulyan there is a local pub, the King’s Arms, where you can enjoy some lunch. There’s also a handy village shop.

Enjoy one of Britain’s most scenic train journeys. Change at St Erth and soak up the dramatic views as the line sweeps alongside the golden sands of Towans through Carbis Bay and on to St Ives.

St Ives is blessed with not one but four beaches. Each offers something different whether you’re a surfer, family or sun worshipper. Explore the town’s picturesque narrow streets lined with galleries, independent shops, pubs and restaurants.

With its pretty, family friendly beaches, gardens and many shops, don’t overlook Par as just the junction for Newquay.

The south-facing Par Sands beach is backed by rolling dunes and is a popular favourite in the summer months. The village also boasts several friendly pubs, shops and restaurants and offers access to many scenic coastal walks and cycle paths.

Described as “the loveliest inland scenery in Cornwall”, this ancient town, dating back to the 12th century, is a must visit.

Antiques shops and regular fairs have made Lostwithiel the antiques capital of Cornwall. The town’s calendar is full of highlights such as LostFest, Carnival week and the Cornish Cider Festival. Restormel Castle, with its wonderful views, is a 1.2 mile walk to the north.

From the big brands of the Drake Circus shopping centre to the charms of the Elizabethan Barbican, Plymouth makes a great day out. Soak up the history of the Hoe (pictured), or take a dip in the iconic Tinside Lido. Explore the National Marine Aquarium or take a tour of the Plymouth Gin Distillery. The station is a short walk from the city centre.
