Nouse Web Archives The Freshers’ Soundtrack Page 1 of 5 News Comment MUSE. Politics Business Science Sport Roses Freshers Freshers › Colleges Societies YUSU Campus City Domestic Survival Sport The Freshers’ Soundtrack Music Editor Chris Owen offers some album recommendations for your first weeks at University, whether you’re studying, partying or missing home Tuesday 29 September 2015 There are lots of decisions to make in your first weeks at university: what should I wear, which societies should I join, what should I eat, would it be a good idea to jump in the lake, et cetera, et cetera. As seasoned students, we hope that we can impart some wisdom to make things easier (the answers to those questions are anything, all of them especially Nouse, anything, and absolutely not, in case you were wondering). As the paper’s resident Music nerd, I’ve taken it upon myself to help with some choices of a musical nature, so you can concentrate on deciding the important things. Below are some albums that might come in handy for various points in your first few weeks at university – and if you absolutely have to jump in the lake, do it to some Queen. For pre-drinking Arriving at agreement for the pre-drinks music can be trickier than you’d think, especially in the face of that overbearing Music student flatmate and the wasted one who only wants to listen to ‘Uptown Funk’. But there are plenty of agreeable options to flesh out a playlist to appeal to all. The Killers – Hot Fuss You’ll be hearing ‘Mr Brightside’ at least twice a night each time you go out, so you’d better make sure you learn all the words beforehand if you don’t know them already. -

Nick Mulvey Bringer Groovende Og Hypnotisk Singer/Songwriting Til Ideal Bar
Avisen The Telegraph gav topkarakteren5/5 og skrev i anmeldelsen: ”His own songs have trance-like hooks, but also maintain momentum and evolve both musically and thematically. Like Paul Simon, he knocks out a lot of syllables, making conversational patterns of his lyrics.” A total package of pop hooks, instrumental genius and gorgeous rhythms, Mulvey presents us with an intelligent record that demonstrates his passion for sounds outside of insular scenes.” -
NICK MULVEY ! Official Site | Facebook! | Twitter ! Nick Mulvey Is Less the Master of Reinvention, As He Is the Master of Invention
! ! NICK MULVEY ! Official Site | Facebook! | Twitter ! Nick Mulvey is less the master of reinvention, as he is the master of invention. Invention by its very definition being a ‘unique method, composition, or process’. First Mind ticks all three boxes, and it ticks them in !spades. As a founding member of sprawling, Mercury Prize nominated jazz collective, Portico Quartet, Nick played an otherworldly new instrument called The Hang, and their music still resonates today in broad- er circles outside of any insular jazz clique (Alt-J quoted one of Nick’s Portico lyrics on their debut al- bum). Nick though wanted a change, and one where the creative process was perhaps a more singular vision, albeit no less! liberal-minded. Putting himself through a guitar school in Cuba, the only Brit in the room, his technique is exquisite, a blur of picked notes and offbeat, irregular timings. Nick is one of life's great thinkers, and coupling his beautifully delivered verse with the intricacies of his playing, you have something wildly at odds with his peers.! Three single releases into this solo career and Nick's music is making impressive, encouraging footprints across the globe. Concluding 2013 on the BBC Sound of 2014 shortlist, those introductory singles, Fever to The Form, Nitrous, and the irresistible Cucurucu are picking up fans in all the right places. Playlisted at Radio 1, Radio 2, 6Music, Absolute Radio, and XFM, and armed with a slew of impressive press quotes, its crucially not just the airwaves and printed press that are taking to Nick but their listeners and readers! alike. -

Davies told the Mirror: “I don’t want to say what I’d like to do to Jews – it’s too extreme.” Davies joined Young BNP (Brit- ish National Party) at 1 but found it in “disarray”.
