    Making Waves: Intra-actions with Educational Media at the National Film Board of Canada, 1960-2016 CAROLYN STEELE A DISSERTATION SUBMITTED TO THE FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY GRADUATE PRODRAM IN COMMUNICATION AND CULTURE APRIL 2017 YORK UNIVERSITY TORONTO, ONTARIO © Carolyn Steele 2017 ABSTRACT This dissertation aims to excavate the narrative of educational programming at the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) from 1960 to 2016. The producers and creative staff of Studio G – the epicentre of educational programming at the NFB for over thirty years – produced extraordinarily diverse and innovative multimedia for the classroom. ‘Multimedia’ is here understood as any media form that was not film, including filmstrips, slides, overhead projecturals, laserdiscs and CDs. To date, there have been no attempts to document the history of educational programming at the NFB generally, nor to situate the history of Studio G within that tradition. Over the course of five years, I have interviewed thirty-four NFB technicians, administrators, producers and directors in the service of creating a unique collective narrative tracing the development of educational media and programming at the NFB over the past fifty- six years and began to piece together an archive of work that has largely been forgotten. Throughout this dissertation, I argue that the forms of media engagement pioneered by Studio G and its descendants fostered a desire for, and eventually an expectation for specific media affordances, namely the ability to sequence or navigate media content, to pace one’s progress through media, to access media on demand and to modify media content.

Kategorije su određene prema starosnoj dobi, u rasponu od pet godina, a unutar njih i odgovarajući broj atletskih disciplina. Dopo ponderata riflessione, debbo concludere che hai colto nel segno: per cui apro la rubrica “Le foto raccontano” inviando a Spiridon alcuni documenti d’antan, ovviamente accompagnati dalle indispensabili spiegazioni. Il primo reperto è datato luglio del 1960 e si riferisce alla cerimonia di apertura del Campionato Mondiale di Pentathlon Militare disputato a Rio de Janeiro.     TEOLOGIA & ESPIRITUALIDADE - Revista Eletrônica de Teologia da Faculdade Cristã de Curitiba - Número 1/ 2012 INRI CRISTO: MAIS UM MESSIAS BRASILEIRO1 Edson Martins2 RESUMO Este artigo está inserido no estudo do messianismo brasileiro, enfocando um novo movimento religioso liderado por um personagem carismático denominado Inri Cristo, que advoga ser a reencarnação de Jesus Cristo. Trata-se de um movimento messiânico pois seu líder se encaixa nas definições apresentadas por especialistas em messianismos e os discípulos que o seguem legitimam suas reivindicações de messianidade. O líder do movimento possui uma personalidade forte, carismática, própria para lideres de movimentos como esse. O grupo possui um arcabouço doutrinário sincrético, às vezes incoerente, mas com perfeito significado para os participantes. O autor mostra que embora os discípulos não sejam muitos, sendo a maioria composta de mulheres, eles demonstram muita lealdade ao líder e à causa que abraçaram, sendo capazes de enormes sacrifícios. ABSTRACT This article is inserted in the study of the Brazilian Messianism, focusing a new religious movement led by a charismatic personage called Inri Christ, who says he is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. It is a messianic movement since its leader is inside the definitions presented by specialists in messianisms and the disciples who follow him legitimize his claims of Messiah. The leader of the movement possesses a strong personality, charismatic, proper for leaders of movements as this one. The group possesses one structure doctrinal of syncretism, sometimes incoherent, but with perfect meaning to the participants. The author shows that the disciples are not many, especially women, but they demonstrate complete loyalty to the leader and the cause, being capable of enormous sacrifices.
