N.W WASHINGTON. D.C. 20008 April 4, 2011. Meera Shankar Ambassador of India The ‘maximum lNDlA’ festival hosted by the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in cooperation with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations and the Embassy from March 1-20, 2011 was a resounding success. As a co-sponsor of the festival, the Embassy was proud to be associated with ‘maximum lNDIA’. A festival of this magnitude to present India’s arts and culture in the U.S. was held after a gap of twenty five years. Our American friends were able to see and experience the rich diversity of art and culture from different parts of India under one roof — Indian dance, music, theatre, crafts, cuisine, literature and cinema. The milling crowds and sold out performances were a testimony to the tremendous interest and goodwill that Indian culture enjoys in the United States. ‘maximum INDlA’ also served as a unique opportunity for the people of India and the United States to rejoice in the steadily strengthening partnership between our two great democracies. I would like to congratulate Chairman David Rubenstein, President Michael Kaiser, Vice-President Alicia Adams and their entire team at the Kennedy Centre for their flawless execution of this large-scale project. -

The capability of dismantling information from its native formats and representing it in triple format offers a simple yet powerful way of modelling data that is obtained from multiple sources. In addition, the triple format and schema constraints of the RDF model make the RDF data easy to process as labeled, directed graphs. This graph representation of RDF data supports higher-level analytics by enabling querying using different techniques and querying languages, e.g., SPARQL. -

Studies in International Performance Published in association with the International Federation of Theatre Research General Editors: Janelle Reinelt and Brian Singleton Culture and performance cross borders constantly, and not just the borders that define nations. In this new series, scholars of performance produce interactions between and among nations and cultures as well as genres, identities and imaginations. Inter-national in the largest sense, the books collected in the Studies in International Performance series display a range of historical, theoretical and critical approaches to the panoply of performances that make up the global surround. The series embraces ‘Culture’ which is institutional as well as improvised, underground or alternate, and treats ‘Performance’ as either intercultural or transnational as well as intracultural within nations.
