In its hinterland is the green stretch Valbiska of what is known as the mountainous Croatia that separates the coast from the interior. Most of it is oriented towards Kvarner - which is what gives it its special Krk qualities. To visit Kvarner is a treat but to spend time in the region is a veritable Cres Baška delight - be it on its coast, its islands or its hinterland. Merag Stara Baška Suffice it to say that the Kvarner islands of Krk, Cres and Lošinj alone boast over 1300 types of plants - which is more than can be found in some of the European countries. The supply of tourist facilities, opportunities and programmes is just as wide ranging and varied. To put it into a nut shell - on small scale, Lubenice Kvarner encompasses the immense biological diversity that Croatia brings to Europe. CRES The world of fauna includes many rare and protected species: griffon vulture, eagles, falcon, hawk, grouse, owls, numerous specie of water fowl; brown bear, wolf, lynx, jackal, wild cat, badger, fox, deer, chamois, mouflon, pine and stone marten can be found in the dense forests of Gorski kotar, alonge the mainland Osor shore and on the islands. -
Rijeka Trails
HR EN www.rijekatrails.com RIJEKA TRAILS Šetnice i planinarske staze Rijeke i prstena Walking and running trails of Rijeka and surroundings Kastav, Klana, Viškovo, Rijeka, Jelenje, Čavle, Kostrena, Bakar, Kraljevica RIJEČKI PRSTEN RIJEKA AND SURROUNDINGS Rijeka i Riječki prsten sačinjavaju jedinstvenu regiju koja iznenađuje svojom prirodnom, povijesnom i kulturnom raznolikošću. EN Rijeka and the surroundings consist of a unique region which surprises with its natural, historical and cultural diversity. The pleasant Mediterranean climate has in many ways shaped the once royal town of Bakar, the important industrial port of Rijeka and the charming coastal towns of Kraljevica and Kostrena, whereas the mild continental climate has contributed to the forested areas of Jelenje, Klana, Kastav, Viškovo and Čavle. In the same day, it is possible to climb the peaks of the popular Grobnik Alps and then to descend to one of the numerous beaches on the coastal stretch between Rijeka and Kraljevica. -
